Dodgers Decline Garland's Option
We get word today that the Dodgers have declined Jon Garland's 2010 mutual option. Read about it here.
That's too bad. Garland has always been a dependable innings eater. Since 2002, he has never pitched less than 191 innings. Hopefully, the Dodgers can find some way to ink him to a new deal.

Garland has never been a "sexy" strike-out pitcher, but he will give you league average (or slightly above) innings, and a lot of them. The Dodgers would've benefited greatly from a full 2009 season of Jon Garland. $10M is a little steep, but it's only for one year. It will be interesting to see if the Dodgers make any effort to sign him a lower salary as a free agent.
