I think the reason I, and most of Dodger Nation, loves Tommy is because of his unabashed homerism. He is a true blue Dodger cheerleader. No ways around it. He is "in your face" when it comes to his love of the team and I love him for it.

Vintage Dodger Stadium 1968
Here are some fan made vintage photos found on eBay from a Sunday afternoon game in 1968. It is June 9th, just three days after the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, as the Dodgers faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies. As you'll notice, the flags in the outfield are at half-mast and a honor guard is present. With it so soon after his death you know it must have been a solemn day. The crowds are very sparse, but, at least, they had a chance to see the Dodgers beat the Phillies 4 to 3.
