eBay: 1888 Goodwin & Co Diecut of Dave Orr

Here is a great vintage hand-cut memorabilia item of 19th century Brooklyn first baseman Dave Orr. This is not a card or something particularly common in the hobby. In fact, it's a bit of a travesty that it exist. The original lithograph poster it came from is not only extremely valuable, but also rare. This has been cut directly out of a 1888 Goodwin & Company poster that advertised the Old Judge Baseball cards.

This die-cut features Dave Orr of the Brooklyn Bridegrooms. He spent only 1 year in Brooklyn and was a very good ballplayer. He had a lifetime .342 batting average over a 8 year career. Orr once hit a cycle in 1885. Unfortunately, his career was cut short when he suffered a stroke during a exhibition game in Pennsylvania that left him paralyzed. This happened just a few weeks before the start of the 1890 Baseball season. He was only 31 years old.
