Who is Brian Myrow? I have to be honest. I don't remember him playing for the Dodgers in 2005. He was a journeyman minor league outfielder who rose through the ranks of organized ball starting at the ripe age of 22. He must have played college ball, but I have no idea where. Myrow also started the hard way. His first experience within the professional ranks started in the independent Northern League Central with Winnipeg. Winnipeg!?! Yhea, you know, that very cold place in Canada that professional hockey players don't even want to play in.
Anyway, he had several stints in the pro's through hard work and perseverance. His numbers in the minors continued to climb as he performed well at nearly every level he entered. Soon, Myrow got his taste of the big show as he came up with the Dodgers in 2005 as a 28 year old. He got into 19 games wearing Dodger Blue as either a first baseman or pinch hitter before bouncing around to another organization. Brian Myrow got a couple of other chances in the Majors thereafter, and appears to have continued his dream of playing ball for a living. He played in 2010 with the Pirates AAA club, but I am unsure if he is signed to play there or somewhere else for the 2011 season.
Above is a 2006 Sweet Spot Signatures card of Brian Myrow in my collection.
