Puig Will Not Be on the Opening Day Roster

Really, this isn't me postulating that the Dodgers should send him to the minors.  It's the Dodgers.

Yasiel Puig is AA bound, and no amount of screaming from the peanut gallery will change that.  Check out the tweet just sent by the @Dodgers below.

So, there you have it.  Arguably, our top prospect (with less than a year of professional experience under his belt) is going to Chattanooga to hone his craft.  He'll face better and stronger competition on a nightly basis, and I have to believe this will round him out into a more complete player.  Besides, there wasn't any room for him in LA, and the last thing I would want is for him to ride the pine.

That being said, doesn't Puig's emergence make you want to smile and laugh uncontrollably?   I have visions of Jackson-style home runs in my head, and blindsided league scouts aching from their poorly made prognostications regarding how we overpaid for the that Cuban fellow.  Thankfully, it appears we will have the last laugh.

Blog Kiosk: 3/26/2013

The LA Kings and Galaxy are at the White House to meet the President today.  Check out a pic above tweeted by Philip Pritchard- the Keeper of the Cup.  You can watch it live today at 10:35 AM at this link.

From a story written by John Hoven at Mayor's Manor about todays event:
“Dewey probably doesn’t know who the President is,” (Colin) Fraser said of defenseman Drew Doughty. “I bet you he doesn’t even know who the Prime Minister is either.”
"Really, I wasn't even mad," said Mattingly. "You think he might want to check. It wasn't so obvious that he didn't need to check. He told me I was arguing balls and strikes. I said, 'What are you going to do? Throw me out of a bleeping Spring Training game?' And he did."
  • Roberto at Vin Scully is My Homeboy put up a bunch of videos featuring Magic Johnson being interviewed by Power 106.
  • Magic was also on Conan's show last night.  Watch it here.
  • Take my word for it.  The video below is worth your time to watch.  Listen to a cover of Voodoo Chile by Jimmy Hendrix, as played by Luna on a Gayageum (which is an Asian instrument that you may recognize from  King Fu Hustle).  This lady rips on that thing.

Clayton Kershaw will be on the Cover of Sports Illustrated's Baseball Preview

Coming out at newstands tomorrow is Sports Illustrated's Baseball Preview, and Clayton Kershaw is featured on one of the covers.  See it above.  Click on the pic to embiggen.  They are making 6 different covers based upon region.  BTW, this is the first time Clayton has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Unfortunately, SI predicts that the Nationals will win the World Series over the Tampa Bay Rays, but they also say that the Dodgers will make the playoffs due to a wild card berth.  So, that's something to hang your hat on.

As you can see below Stephen Strasburg (2nd SI cover), David Price (2nd SI cover), Justin Verlander (3rd SI cover), CC Sabathia (2nd SI cover), and James Shields (1st SI cover) will also have their own covers.
