#Trollfoot at Dodger Stadium

It has just come to my attention that Danny DeVito is an avid twitter user, and he created his own twitter meme that he calls #Trollfoot.  What this entails is him taking pics of his bare naked foot in strange and unusual locales.  Then, he post those photos onto twitter. 

So, without missing a beat he put up a couple of #Trollfoot pics from Dodger Stadium.  Check them out below.

DeVito, Punto and Schumaker - Sitting in a Tree

What an amazingly crazy game it was yesterday.  The Dodgers continue to win, and fans and players alike are going mad.

Really!  There is something strange in the air, and it's starting to play out like some silly prime time sitcom. 

As an example, it's no secret that Skip Schumaker and Nick Punto are friends.  After all, based on a report from Arash Markazi at ESPN you have to be close friend to be able to joke the way they do.

Schumaker and Punto can often be heard playfully going back and forth at each other and engaging their teammates in daily ribbings and roasts that have made for some classic clubhouse moments this season.

Apparently a running joke in the clubhouse is that Schumaker calls Punto, Danny DeVito. So, when DeVito showed up to Dodger Stadium, hijinks was sure to occur.  Via @ArashMarkazi on twitter:

Danny DeVito was actually wearing one of Nick Punto's jerseys. Skip Schumaker stole it from Nick's locker and gifted it to him.

As you know, Punto started the game and based on what you might expect would be the outcome in a tv show, he connected in the 7th inning with a home run.  Hollywood then took over.

That's right, Punto reached into the stands and celebrated with Danny DeVito.  Then, DeVito shows us a crazy dance.

Holy Moly!  This game and the season is starting to get unreal.

The below Matt Kemp box-loader cabinet sized card is a "1 of 1".  It features a game-used giant patch featuring Kemp's entire nameplate from the back of his uniform.  This particular card was just posted on eBay for sale.  It is currently priced at over $500.  See the auction here.  BTW, there is also a Kemp book cabinet card box-loader, a Adrian Gonzalez autographed box-loader, and Sandy Koufax autographed relic box-loader, but they have yet to be unearthed.

Blog Kiosk: 8/13/2013 - Dodgers Links - Greinke Would Trade Ellis, Puig and His Adjusments, and Unsung Heroes

• So, if Zack Greinke were GM he'd trade AJ Ellis.  Check this story out written by Ken Rosethal at FoxSports.

“The first thing I’m doing is trading you and signing Brian McCann,” Greinke said, referring to the Atlanta Braves’ catcher, who is a free agent at the end of the season.

• "Overthinking It: Yasiel Puig Adjusts to the Adjustments," via Ben Lindbergh at Baseball Prospectus.  This is a very detailed and statistical look at the ever-evolving Puig at the plate.

Suddenly the Francoeur comp seems more silly than scary. Francoeur has never walked 11 times in a 10-game stretch, as Puig now has, and he didn’t come close to doing so in his rookie season. What’s really scary, and also exciting, is how quickly Puig altered his approach to correct a pattern that wasn’t working. Your move, major leagues.

• Did you know that the Dodgers recently changed their logo?  Really... they did!  I'll let LA Taco tell you all about it.
• "Shut the Door, Have a Seat: Kenley Jansen Is Simply Awesome," via Michael Baumann at Grantland.
• Andrew Kallick at Kings.NHL.com shares an interview done with Dodgers catcher Tim Federowicz at the end of the hockey season.  Tim had just watched his first Kings hockey game.

LAKings.com: Have you noticed any similarities between being a catcher and a goaltender?

A: I was kind of watching their technique in between periods. It’s kind of funny. We do some of the same stuff, same type of stretches. A lot of the same techniques, it’s pretty cool. They drop down to their knees a lot to try to block the puck from going in the goal. We do the same when pitchers throw balls in the dirt. I’m sure they do a lot of drill work with it. It’s kind of cool to see the other end of it.

• John Thorn at Our Game (a noted Baseball historian) shares an old article that names Joe Jackson as, "The Man Who Might Have Been the Greatest Player in the Game". 
• Cuba's best hitter has reportedly just defected, via Matthew Pouliot at Hard Ball Talk.  He's a 1st Baseman, so I would be surprised if the Dodgers make a play for him.

The Best Ever!

This team has been unbelievable. So unbelievable that they set a new franchise record for wins over a 46-game stretch last night.

This club has outperformed every Dodger team known as the "Boys of Summer" - with the likes of Duke, Jackie, Pee Wee and Campy on the roster.  They are better than the team lead by Uncle Robbie in the '20's, who had Hall of Famers like Zach Wheat and Burleigh Grimes.  Heck, Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrin thinks this may be the best Dodger team he has ever seen, per Tony Jackson at Dodger Scribe.

I think the specter of the McCourt/Fox years has finally past, and I couldn't be happier.

Dodger Baseball is exciting again.
