Gametimes for Game 4 & 5 is Now Set - Tonight's Game May Start on TNT

We finally have the game times set for Game 4 & 5 of the division series between the Braves and Dodgers.  As you know, on Sunday Game 3 in Los Angeles will be at 5:07 PM.  Now we know that game 4 and 5 will also be evening games.

Per a couple of tweets from the Dodgers:

Game 4 of the NLDS on Monday, October 7th will begin at 6:37pm PT (if necessary). #ITFDB

If necessary, Atlanta will host Game 5 of the NLDS on Wednesday, October 9th will begin at 5:37pm PT. #ITFDB

Furthermore, if tonight's ALDS game on TBS runs past 3:07, then the Dodgers game, which starts in less than half-an-hour, will begin on TNT.  Per another Dodgers tweet.

As you can see, neither team make any changes to their starting lineups.

Some Brooklyn Dodgers Photographic Negatives from the Brearley Collection at Hunt Auctions

Last month, I shared some photographic negatives taken by New England area photographer Dennis Brearley that were on auction through Hunt Auctions.  Now, Hunt continues their sale in October with more Brearley negatives to bid on.  Check out some of the vintage Brooklyn Dodgers available below.

A personal Letter from Gil Hodges

Probably one of my favorite finds when it comes to auctions are personal letters written by old-time Dodgers.  They add a great dimension to player who you only really knew from afar.  It's like having an opportunity to see a little bit of their personality.

Well, Clean Sweep Auctions just closed a recent offering that included this great letter by Gil Hodges, and I thought I would share it here.  It is written to a Mort (I am unsure if this is a fan or a fellow ballplayer) and it includes some Baseball content.  Below is a snippet.  See the auction item here.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate your kind letter.  I certainly enjoyed being in Arlington and meeting so many wonderful people.

Good luck in the coming baseball season. I'm pulling for a pennant for you as well as the Dodgers. Win, lose or draw I'm sure the boys will gain a lot about baseball and fair play, just being under your care.

Blog Kiosk: 10/4/2013 - Dodgers Playoff Edition

• "Co-ace Greinke feeds off Dodgers' success: Righty goes 12-2 in final 19 starts after igniting club's historic 42-8 stretch," via Paul Casella at MLB.com.

"It's not just us two," Greinke said. "I feel like just the whole team has been pitching good. And when you watch other people do good, it makes it easier for you. You start to think that it's normal and not out of the ordinary to pitch that good."

As you might expect, the Braves had advanced scouts following the Dodgers very closely over the course of the season and especially during the final three or four weeks of the season. These scouts were undoubtedly well aware that Yasiel Puig is very fast, but I honestly believe that they failed to realize just how fast he really is.
