Reports indicate that Juan Uribe Will be Re-Signed

The big cheese at 3rd base is coming back!  Uribear to continue as a Dodger!

Per a tweet this afternoon by Ken_Rosenthal, he has a agreed to stay with the Dodgers on a new 2-year contract.

In celebration, I made the above Juan Uribe fantasy card.  I used the 1987 Topps Baseball card design and a photo from Jon SooHoo/LA Dodgers 2013.

There's no word yet on the dollar amount, but it appears the Dodgers upped their offer to retain him.  It had previously been reported elsewhere that the Dodgers had made a 1-year offer with a 2nd year option.  Now, it looks like he'll get two guaranteed years.

This signing is one of the final pieces left for the Dodgers starting lineup.  With Uribe at 3rd we now know that Hanley likely stays at shortstop.  A question mark still exist at 2nd base as prospect Alexander Guerrero continues to be hampered by a leg injury in the Winter Leagues.  So, there's always a remote possibility the Dodgers pick up another infielder as insurance.

I'll leave you with a last quote about Uribe tweeted by Rosental:

Blog Kiosk: 12/14/2013 - Dodgers Links - Michael Young, Preacher Roe and Kemp's New Flame

Kasten said the Dodgers fully expect to open spring training with all four outfielders — Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier, Carl Crawford and Yasiel Puig.

"I've always thought that was the most likely outcome," Kasten said. "We don't feel the need to move one like the people who write about us apparently feel we do."
Having mastered the spitball while with the Pirates, “Preach” (as his teammates called him) had tremendous success with the Dodgers, including winning records in his first six seasons with the team. Roe finished the 1948 season with a record of 12-8 and an excellent ERA of 2.63. “I try to keep the hitters off balance, never giving them a decent pitch,” Roe once said. “I’m always aiming for the corners, never throwing the same pitch twice or what the hitter is expecting.”
