- Hall of Famer Ralph Kiner passed away at his home in Rancho Mirage. He was 91 years old. RIP, Ralph. Via a story at the Baseball Hall of Fame. Here are some quotes from Kiner:
“I got to Forbes Field and saw it was 406 feet to left-center with a 30-foot scoreboard, and I thought: ‘I’m going to kill that scout who signed me.’”
---------------“Someone asked me how come I signed up with the Mets (as a broadcaster), since they weren’t going to win many games. I said: ‘I’ve got a lot of experience with losing.’”

“I think we have a ball club that can really play and execute the game of baseball and bring to you fans… you, each and every one of you, you deserve a World Championship.”

“I think I’ll be more relaxed coming into this year,” said the 27-year-old. “I think last year I was a little more on edge. (Now) I’ll be able to have a little more fun and be on the field with guys I’m more familiar with.”
- Thank you, Roberto (from Vin Scully is My Homeboy). He tells us that a traveling exhibit featuring the Negro League Museum is currently in Gardena. It ends soon, so get out there right away.
- WTF. There's a card collector who is working on getting every Tim Wallach card every made - not one of each, but every one of them... Wha? Go to his blog called - Tim Wallach: An Attempt to Collect Them All. (Hat Tip: David Roth at SB Nation) I just might have to send him a little package.
