This year, Topps decided to do something different. It is now purely a Hobby Store Promotion. Instead of inserting redemption cards into packs, they have made the packs available to collectors with the purchase of 16 packs of 2014 Topps Series 1 packs at your local hobby shop. Be sure to contact your favorite local hobby shop for more information. Chris Olds at Beckett has more detail, as well.
In this years Spring Fever set there are 4 Dodgers in the base set. See them all below. Also, from what I understand, there are 2 Dodger autographed cards available: a Duke Snider (#SFA-DSN) and Johnny Podres (#SFA-JP).
Spring Fever Base Cards
#SF-10 Clayton Kershaw
#SF-11 Hanley Ramirez
#SF-25 Yasiel Puig
#SF-49 Adrian Gonzalez

I was talking to the sports card manager at my local comic book shop, Bosco's, and he was at the Industry Summit and said they had talked to Topps about how screwed up this promotion was and that many hobby stores had already sold all the Series 1 they probably were going too. He said the Topps reps told them they didn't have to stick to just Series 1, as long as the promotion was used to sell Topps it could be any Topps baseball product. Still the Dodgers got 4 cards, my team one admitted PED user. Yay.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. I had heard some rumblings, too.
