I'm kinda wondering, "so, what do we know about this guy anyway?"
Well, here are what some of the professionals are saying on twitter:
Andrew Friedman made magic on skinflint payrolls with the Rays. He's gonna have $200M+ a year to do it with the Dodgers. Best hire possible.
— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) October 14, 2014
ESPN SportsTalk host Steve Mason had this to say.
One of the brightest minds in all of baseball is joining the #Dodgers. Andrew Friedman is leaving the #Rays. pic.twitter.com/umfUxuV4Kl
— Steve Mason (@VeniceMase) October 14, 2014
Mason also adds the following:
From my conversations, never felt Mattingly was in any jeopardy. If Friedman hires a GM, he will be an “extension” of Friedman’s vision.

This is via local Tampa Bay reporter Marc Topkin:
Friedman had declined previous opportunities with #Angels and #Astros to leave #Rays. Don't know details of deal w/#Dodgers.

Based on Ben Badler's tweet I'd be willing to bet Friedman will get paid handsomely.
Opportunities to outspend for players drying up with MLB rules. Smart teams will identify the best execs, scouts and coaches, and pay them.

Molly Knight chimes in:
The smartest guy in baseball now has the most money to spend on players. That's.. amazing.

MLB columnist Scott Miller says:
The Dodgers' hiring of Andrew Friedman as Sr. President of Baseball Operations is very, very bad news for the other 4 NL West teams
— Scott Miller (@ScottMillerBbl) October 14, 2014
And this is just a small sampling of views and opinions on the Andrew Friedman hire. I suspect that over the coming days, weeks and months we'll hear a lot more about how this will impact the team.
For now, all I can say is HOLY MOLY! I can't wait for the new season to begin.
