Jessica Alba has Great Form

On a warm Sunday afternoon, actor Jessica Alba came out to Dodger Stadium to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.  She stars in a new film called “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” that comes out on August 22nd, and was decked out in full-Blue-regalia for the event.  Alba wore a Dodger jersey, well-worn blue jeans and equally sequenced blue sneakers.

Better yet, she displayed rare form while warming up for her big pitch.  As I'm sure you know, the cast of characters who usually come out for this kind of honor often embarrass themselves on the mound, but as you can see in the two photos above (and vine video below) she obviously has played the game and seems unlikely to mess up.

I wonder if she played in the Little Leagues.  Maybe she was a Mo'ne Davis before Mo'ne Davis hit the scene.

Anyway, she made a huge impression with the fans, and made an even bigger impression with Dodger starter Zack Greinke.  Check out his smile below, it's the widest I've ever seen.

What a big day for Zack.  He apparently also had a chance to meet his favorite actor.  As soon as I can find a video of her actual pitch I'll share it below.

UPDATE:  Here's the video of Jessica's Alba's first pitch.  Not perfect, but not bad.

UPDATE II: Dodger team photographer Jon SooHoo has a bunch of photo's up from the game; including footage of Alba warming up.  Go here.

A 'Toon Version of Puig's Outfield Wall Crash

Do you remember Yasiel Puig's phenomenal wall-crashing catch off the bat of Freddie Freeman in Atlanta on Thursday?  Well if you don't you can relive that moment below.

The folks at the MLB FanCave shared a fun little video commemorating the moment.  Check it out below, via their twitter account

It's like a live action 'toon video, and I love it.

Star Wars Night as Seen Through Twitter

The nerd in me is strong.  Yet, I couldn't make way to Dodger Stadium this past Friday for the 6th Annual Star Wars Night with the Dodgers.  Fortunately, the wonders of twitter made me feel like I was there.  Check out some of my favorite pics from the evening below.

BTW, the always great Dodger photographer Jon Soo Hoo shared some of his best pics on his photo blog.  The above photo of a young Dodger fan with the steely eye glare of a Jedi was taken by him.  Go here to check out more from him.  I've included a couple more directly below.  On the left is Brandon League in the most-geekiest laser gun pose ever, and on the right is Lakers coach Byron Scott with Darth Vader and his minions.

Now, here are some twitter pics below:

I had to start this off with my favorite Star Wars character.  Here is the one-and-only R2D2.

Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy then got into the act and tried to overpower the dark one.

But, the force was stronger with Darth Vader.

Soon, the Empire started to take over.

But have no fear, Don Mattingly was in the house.

Soon, the fans got into the act.

LOL!  That's a weak looking Han.  Are you with me on that one?

What a great costume.  Awesome!

And, I'll leave you with this: "May The Dodgers Be With You"

Sunday Dodger Videos: Puig's Bucket Challenge and Vin Scully

Here are this Sunday's Dodger videos.

Yasiel Puig accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge; with the help of Scott Van Slyke.

Brent Musburger, famed College Football broadcaster, recently sang the praises of Vin Scully on the red carpet.

Now watch the man of the hour.  Joe Grande with NBC Sports interviews Vin Scully on the red carpet.

Here's an all-access look at the Los Angeles Dodgers, via the LASEC and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation.  I'm not exactly sure when this was orignally filmed; possibly in late July.  There's some great interviews with some Dodger players, broadcasters and legends.
