The Dodgers recently announced a brand new edition to the Dodger family - the Dodger Grounds Crew Family, that is.
Actor Katherine Heigl, who stars in a new NBC political drama called 'State of Affairs', was at Saturday's Game 2 playoff match against the Cardinals, and no doubt passed along some good luck to the Boys in Blue. Naturally, considering the win the Dodgers wanted to make sure she continues to show up at Dodger Stadium, so they offered her a moonlighting gig with the club. Announced today, Katherine Heigl is now an official infield grounds crew tractor driver, and you should expect her to groom the field at Chavez Ravine for many more games.
Obviously, this post is in jest, but if things do go well from here on out they just might have to give her a call.
In celebration of Katherine Heigl's new job with the team I made the above fantasy card for her. I used a photograph grabbed from Dodger photographer Juan Ocamp/LA Dodgers 2014 and the 1959 Topps Baseball card design.
Below is an instagram photo sent by Heigl from Saturday's ballgame. As you can see, she was hanging out with her 'State of Affairs' family.
