ICYMI: Here's the Dodgers 25-Man Roster

You probably already know that the Dodgers announced their 2016 Opening Day 25-man roster over the weekend.  Nevertheless, I figured I'd outline the guys who will be manning the club to start the season in a post.  There are quite a few surprises, but only because several key injuries have opened the door for some new faces.

Here is the Dodgers 2016 Opening Day roster.

Starting Pitchers (5):

• Clayton Kershaw (L)
• Scott Kazmir (L)
• Kenta Maeda
• Alex Wood (L)
• Ross Stripling

The rookie and first time Major Leaguer, Ross Stripling, beat out Carlos Frias and Zach Lee for a spot on the rotation.  His stay is likely to be a short one.  Stripling will probably go back to minors once either Bolsinger or Ryu is ready to go.

Relief Staff (7):

• Kenley Jansen
• Chris Hatcher
• J.P. Howell (L)
• Joe Blanton
• Pedro Baez
• Yimi Garcia
• Louis Coleman

The Dodgers will go with just one left-hander in the bullpen, at least for now.  Avilan and Liberatore (both lefty's) will be waiting in the wings in the minors.  Louis Coleman earned a spot by having a fantastic spring. 

Catchers (2):

• AJ Ellis
• Austin Barnes

Barnes makes the team due to Yasmani Grandal going on the DL.

Infielders (5):

• Charlie Culberson
• Adrian Gonzalez (L)
• Corey Seager (L)
• Justin Turner
• Chase Utley (L)

Culberson earned a spot over Rob Segedin for an infield position left open by the injury to Alex Guerrero.  It remains to be seen if Guerrero takes back the spot when he is ready to play. 

Infielder/Outfielder (1):

• Enrique Hernandez

Outfielders (5):

• Carl Crawford (L)
• Joc Pederson (L)
• Yasiel Puig
• Scott Van Slyke
• Trayce Thompson

Trayce Thompson, son of former Laker Mychal Thompson, earned a spot due to Andre Ethier's injury.

Disabled List (10):

• Brett Anderson, LHP (60-day, herniated disc surgery)
• Mike Bolsinger, RHP (15-day, left oblique strain, retroactive to March 25)
• Andre Ethier, OF (15-day, broken right tibia, retroactive to March 25)
• Alex Guerrero, IF (15-day, left knee contusion, retroactive to March 25)
• Yasmani Grandal, C (15-day, right forearm soreness, retroactive to March 25)
• Howie Kendrick, IF (15-day, strained left calf, retroactive to March 25)
• Brandon McCarthy, RHP (60-day, right UCL surgery)
• Frankie Montas, RHP (60-day, rib resection surgery)
• Josh Ravin, RHP (15-day, left radius fracture, retroactive to March 25)
• Hyun-Jin Ryu, LHP (15-day, left shoulder surgery, retroactive to March 25)
