The Kenta Maeda Superfractor has been Found and Sold

This is the "Big Daddy" of all Kenta Maeda Baseball cards.

Over the weekend, thanks to a post at Blowout Buzz, I found out that the redemption for the Chrome Prospect Autograph Superfractor parallel card of Maeda had been posted up on eBay.  It had a "Buy It Now" price tag of $14,999.00, and I figured it would just sit there unsold.

Boy, was I wrong!

In the span of about 24 hours it not only sold, but from the looks of the auction listing it sold at full price.  Wow!

I guess it should come as no surprise that the autographed superfractor would garner this kind of interest.  Bowman superfractors are universally considered within the hobby as a players most desirable rookie card.  They are all "1 of 1's", and sport a unique design that has captivated collectors.  Past sales for these cards include the following:
  • In May of 2010 the Stephen Stasburg 2010 Bowman Chrome Superfractor sold on eBay for $16,403.
  • Then that same Strasburg sold soon after at $21,403.
  • The 2010 Bowman Team USA Bryce Harper Superfractor sold for $12,500 in 2010.
  • The 2013 Bowman Chrome Yasiel Puig autographed Superfractor sold in January of 2014 at $17,999.
  • The Clayton Kershaw 2006 Bowman Chrome Autographed Superfractor was listed on eBay at $17,500 in January 2014 but did not sell at the time.  Although, it appears to have sold since then at an undisclosed price.
BTW, the unsigned Kenta Maeda Prospect Base Superfractor card is still out there to be found.  Since that card does not have an autograph it isn't likely to sell for as much.  Still, the finder should be able to reap a big reward should he/she decide to sell
