The kid continues to mash!
Corey Seager has been fantastic. In last nights game he had a hand in both runs the Dodgers scored. He came home on a double by the recently resurgent Justin Turner in the first inning, and then tied the game in the fifth when he homered off Grienke. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to defeat Zack and the Diamondbacks. The Dodgers lost 3-2. BTW, last night was the first game the Dodgers played against Greinke since he skipped town. Via Doug Padilla at ESPN:
“It was probably a little more [fun] than normal,” Greinke said. “But I’ve played on several teams, so I’m used to facing former teams. That really wasn’t much. But the fans were pretty loud today, so that made it more so of an intense game.”
...
“The first couple innings, the first time through the order they were swinging a lot early,” Greinke said. “And they were taking the pitches I wanted them to swing at. The first couple innings was a combination of me not pitching real good and them taking quality at-bats. The last three innings I thought I pitched better -- besides the home-run pitch to Seager.”Photo above via Jon SooHoo on the Dodgers twitter. “You always think you can bounce back quicker than you do, and this was one of those,” Ethier said. “In my downtime I did a little research into other athletes that have suffered it and you see this is right on the timetable and is still sooner than when most of those guys returned.”
- Via Mike Rosenbaum at MLB.com, Dodgers second base prospect Willie Calhoun is named to MLBPipeline.com's Prospect Team of the Week.
Calhoun opened last week with his first multihomer game of the season and then secured PTOW honors by going deep in back-to-back games for Tulsa over the weekend. In total, seven of the 21-year-old's nine hits went for extra bases. He's hitting .271/.339/.511 with 12 homers and 40 RBIs through 60 games in his first full campaign as a professional.
- Per a tweet by Ken Gurnick, outfielder Carl Crawford has officially been released by the Dodgers. Last week the club DFA's him. As you may know, Crawford is still owed $35 million for the two years remaining on his contract, and the Dodgers are on the hook for all of it.

Uribe — the veteran Cleveland Indians' third baseman — took a grounder to the baby-maker, then stayed on the ground for a few minutes in obvious pain before being carted off the field. He was eventually diagnosed with a "testicular contusion," which is as horrible as it sounds.
