- Yesterday Assemblyman Mike Gatto (D-Los Angeles) introduced a bill that would name a portion of the I-210 freeway between State Route 2 and Orange Grove Boulevard the "Jackie Robinson Memorial Highway.” It is along a commonly used route to Dodger Stadium for fans coming from the Eastern Los Angeles County. Per a press release:
“Jackie Robinson is not only an inspiring figure to us for his accomplishments in athletics, but also as a civil-rights-era trailblazer who advocated for social change,” said Assemblyman Gatto. “His contributions to baseball and society have made an everlasting impression on our nation.”
...
“It’s only fitting to honor Jackie Robinson by naming this stretch of highway near the home he grew up and lived in,” said Gatto, whose father and uncles were present at Dodger Stadium in 1972 when Robinson had his number retired. “The sacrifices and differences he made will always be remembered.”

- Via Jon Weisman at Dodger Insider; "As others gush about his future, A.J. Ellis stays in the present." I would be very disappointed if he doesn't become a Dodgers coach.
“I just always have the faith and confidence that there’s a great plan in my life, and it’s going to be taken care of, that as long as I continue to be a man of integrity and a man of character, things will work out the way they’re supposed to work out.”
