Yesterday was the third annual Dodgers RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) PlayerFest at Dodger Stadium, and as you can see it was packed with happy kids everywhere. The photo above via Jon SooHoo/LA Dodgers 2016. Go here to check out more pics by Jon from the event.

- This Day in Dodger History: In 1944 the Dodgers, Giants and Yankees play an exhibit charity game in front of 50,000 fans for the war bond movement dubbed the Tri-Cornered Baseball Game. The Dodgers won the contest: Dodgers 5, Yankees 1, Giants 0. Check out what I wrote about it here.
- Happy Birthday, Babe Herman!
- ICYMI: The Dodgers sent Nick Tepesch back to Triple-A Oklahoma City, and called up infielder Chris Taylor. The Dodgers got Taylor in a trade with the Mariner's last week for Zach Lee. Check out my post about it here; including a fantasy Baseball card I made. Per a press release:
Taylor, who was acquired by the Dodgers on June 19 from the Seattle Mariners, was batting .500 (6-for-12) with three runs scored, three doubles and three RBI, including hitting safely in all three games for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 25-year-old hit .312 with 41 runs, 19 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 29 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 63 games with Triple-A Tacoma , including a .414 mark with runners in scoring position (24-for-58), prior to being traded to Los Angeles.
Taylor played in two games with the Mariners this year, going 1-for-3, and appeared in 86 big league games in three seasons with the Mariners from 2014-16, batting .240 with 11 doubles, a triple and 10 RBI. In the Majors, Taylor appeared in 76 games (66 starts) at shortstop, four games (two starts) at second base and one game at third base.

But just like with the teams and Gourriel’s expected performance, we’re basically guessing. I won’t be surprised by any contract figure between $20 million and $60 million, which is a pretty wide range. The Dodgers factor can’t be ignored, and since they don’t seem to have a budget, perhaps they’ll just say this is worth the risk to protect their farm system from having to make a July trade.
- The MLB All-Star FanFest in San Diego is fast approaching. There will be all kinds of Baseball related activities there; including a collector show, clinics and autograph opportunities. Topps will also be on hand for a wrapper redemption card program that includes FanFest exclusive cards; including the Clayton Kershaw card on the right. Go here for information.
- Panini's 2016 Flawless Baseball card set was officially released yesterday. They shared some preview pics from the set on their blog; including Corey Seager, Duke Snider and Jackie Robinson cards seen below. I hope to have pic of all the Dodgers cards soon, so stay tuned. Go here to check out more photos of the set.

- Baseball America recently highlighted Dodgers pitching prospect Brock Stewart in an email blast. It said:
"Stewart spent most of his time at Illinois State at third base, but the Dodgers were intrigued by his arm strength and drafted him in the sixth round in 2014 as a righthanded pitcher. Now he’s one step from the majors. Stewart on Friday struck out 10 batters for the second straight start as Triple-A Oklahoma City bat Round Rock (Rangers) 8-2. In three starts at the classification, Stewart is 3-0, 2.89 with 27 whiffs and two walks. Stewart’s fastball can touch 96 and he commands it well. He also throws a slider for strikes and a fringe-average changeup."
