Nationals Series Starts on Monday - Pregame Info and Other Stuff!


The next homestand starts on Monday against the Washington Nationals.   Below are some odds and ends for this upcoming homestand.

The DC: Half Smoke Dog will be available for this homestand only against the Nationals at the Extreme Loaded Dog concession areas located on the field, loge and reserve levels. It features a quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog topped with diced onion, yellow mustard and DC chili.

The sixth 2016 issue of the new Dodger Insider magazine, featuring Corey Seager on the cover, will be available at Dodger Stadium.  (see it on the left).  The Dodgers merged their previously separate Playbill and Dodger Insider magazines into one publication (at least 80 pages per issue) with a new edition available each homestand.  They are distributed at auto gates (one per vehicle) and via Fan Services for those who use alternate transportation.

Monday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM.  The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a backpack cooler.  See it on the right.

Erin and Sara Foster from VH1’s “Barely Famous” will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Rodney G. Perdue of Manassas, VA. After September 11, Perdue enlisted in the Navy as a logistics specialist. He served numerous operational tours, including USS Stephen W. Groves, which supported Counter Narcotics Operations in Central and South America; Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Fourteen, which supported Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom and USS Simpson. He is currently serving with Fighter Attack Squadron Two Zero Four in Belle Chasse, LA. Perdue’s awards include eight Navy Achievement Medals and the Navy Seabee Combat Warfare and the Enlisted Surface Warfare insignias.

Tuesday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM. 

It is Firefighter Appreciation Night at Dodger Stadium.  Folks who ordered a special ticket package will get an exclusive Firefighter Appreciation Night T-shirt with your ticket.  See that on the left.  If not already sold out go here for information.

The Dodgers will pay tribute to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which covers 470 square miles and responds to an incident every 34 seconds from one of the 106 stations located throughout the city of Los Angeles. The club will honor nine-year LAFD veteran Scott Whitehead, who is currently assigned to Fire Station 106 in the West Hills neighborhood. On June 4, Whitehead helped save a five-year-old girl who was unconscious after being retrieved from a pool. The child is expected to make a full recovery. Whitehead, who lives with his family in Newbury Park, will throw an honorary first pitch.

Also as part of Firefighter Appreciation Night, the Heater Dog will be available at the Extreme Loaded Dog concession areas located on the field, loge and reserve levels for this game only. The Heater Dog features a quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog with Sriracha aioli, ground beef, shredded lettuce and diced tomato.

DJ, record producer, songwriter and label executive Diplo will throw the ceremonial first pitch.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Rogelio Herrera. Herrera joined the Marine Corps in 1996 and completed boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. He deployed to East Asia with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in 2002, deployed to Al Asad, Iraq, in 2004 and to the Horn of Africa with HMH-462 in 2010. In 2013, he was medically transferred to Naval Medical Center in San Diego and assigned as a patient with the Wounded Warrior Detachment. After serving 19 years, Herrera was medically retired from the Marine Corps, earning six Good Conduct Medals, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Wednesday's game starts at 7:10 PM.  Auto gates open at 4:40 PM, and stadium gates open at 5:10 PM.  The first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive a Dusty Baker bobblehead.  See it on the right.
  • The Military Hero of the Game is retired U.S. Army Reserves Specialist 4th Class Stephen V. Abrams. Abrams joined the Reserves in 1970 and was in Reserve Unit 349th General Hospital. He attended basic training at Fort Polk, LA, and underwent medical training at Fort Sam Houston Medical Training Center in Houston, TX. He worked in Army hospitals treating wounded soldiers who were returning from Vietnam and at the Los Angeles Free Clinic. Abrams is a lifetime member of Jewish War Veterans Post #118 and Disabled Veterans Post #13.
