Finally!
We have some good news regarding televised Dodgers games. Per Tom Hoffarth at the OC Register, local channel KTLA 5 will simulcast six Dodgers games towards the end of the season. This will allow fans of Vin Scully to listen, watch and experience the last six games broadcasted by him:
The package of simulcasts will start with the final weekend of home games against Colorado, which run Sept. 23-25 and includes Friday’s Vin Scully appreciation night. KTLA will also have the pregame ceremony starting at 7 p.m. to honor Scully. The Sept. 30-Oct. 2 games in San Francisco end the regular season. This far from assuages the anger and frustration that many fans, who have been unable to watch Vin and the Dodgers over the past three season, feel. That being said, this is an fantastic gesture, and it's greatly appreciated. But make no mistake, there remains a dark stain.
Should the Dodgers make the playoffs, the team expects to make arrangements for Scully to call the games on KLAC-AM (570) radio while they will be televised by a national carrier (ESPN, Fox or TBS).

- This Day in Dodger History: In 1971 Astros outfielder Cesar Cedeno hit an inside-the-park home run against the Dodgers when infielder Jim Lefebvre and right fielder Bill Buckner collided while trying to catch a short fly. In 1979 Manny Mota became Baseballs all time pinch-hit leader at 145. In 2003 Eric Gagne set a Major League record for consecutive saves over a two season period at 55. It was also his 47th consecutive save to start a season.

“He doesn’t seem to be fazed by it at all,” Ripken said. “He seems to have a quiet confidence about him. Humble guy, sort of reserved. His maturity, his presence in the field — he doesn’t seem to be alarmed by much. He seems to accept what happens.”

“Facing all big-league pitchers is pretty sweet,” Lux said.
So is sitting in the same dugout with them. During a break between innings, McCarthy and Lux exchanged thoughts and ideas — McCarthy asking Lux about how the ball looked coming out of his hand, while Lux tried to learn as much as he could during the golden opportunity.
“I asked him a couple of questions on how he attacks lefties and what he does in certain situations,” Lux said, “so that was pretty cool.”

"The toughest part of any rehab is going to be mental," Buehler said. "It's 12 months that I didn't play. That's the part where you feel like a different person. You don't feel like a baseball player. With how good the doctors are, and how good the rehab people are, and how good the intermediaries are ... everybody is really good. The surgery has become one of those things where it's pretty hard for them to miss. People usually have success after it. The mental part is the big part, because you know the physical stuff is taken care of."

At issue is what Lesko thought he was buying on July 20: a Pittsburgh Pirates card announcing that “John Harrison trots home after triple & error for walk-off W.” The card references Harrison’s leadoff triple to center field off Tyler Thornburg on July 19 that became the game-winning run in Pittsburgh’s 3-2 victory against Milwaukee when Scooter Gennett made a throwing error. Here’s the snag: there is no John Harrison. As dedicated baseball fans know, the second baseman’s correct name is Josh Harrison.
Are you kidding me? Stuff like this is why people hate attorneys.
- Russia loves Baseball... er, Baseball Bats! Via TASS - a Russian News Agency; "Russian drivers bought 500,000 baseball bats last year to settle road disputes — police."
"Road conflicts with drivers using weapons, bats and knives have become more frequent," Viktor Kovalenko said, adding that car salons have started selling baseball bats.
"One hardly knows where to play baseball in Russia," he said. "The game is not popular in the country", he added, noting that only one pair of baseball gloves and one ball were sold in Russia last year.
