In addition to the postseason 15-card Dodger team set currently available (originally written about here), Topps Now has just release two more cards to add to their running set. Both cards capture the excitement and joy of yesterdays big day. Unfortunately, Vin Scully isn't featured on either.
The card on the top left celebrates both Corey Seager's game-tying home run in the 9th inning and Charlie Culberson's walk-off homer in the 10th inning. It is card number #505. Go here to check it out and order. Hilariously, it describes the events wrongly on the reverse (as seen on below left). It says:
The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the National League West Division title in grand fashion, with a 4-3, walk-off win over the Colorado Rockies. With the game tied at 2 going into the top of the ninth inningm call-up David Dahl gave the Colorado Rockies a one-run lead with a solo blast off Kenley Jansen. Corey Seager tied the game in the tenth inning with a solo shot of his own. In the next inning, reserve Charlie Culberson sealed the victory with a two-out, walk-off home run off Boone Logan.Uhhh... Yeah... Seager's tying blast was in the 9th inning, but I digress. Topps is likely to make appropriate changes to the paragraph above when the final product ships to customers.
The top card on the right celebrates the Dodgers clinching of the 2016 National League West Division Championship. Go here to check it out and order. It is card number #506, and is actually shown with the number #506-A. Why? I dunno.
Below is what is says on the reverse:
The Dodgers clinched their fourth straight NL West Division title, and while this one certainly wasn't the easiest, it must have been the most satisfying. First-year manager Dee Roberts guided a team that lost their ace pitcher, Clayton Kershaw, for more than two months, among other starting pitcher injuries, and saw the team start rookie pitchers a Major-League-high 65 times, to the top of the division. With a team that put out 55 players this year, it's no surprise the team clinched the title with a walk-off home run by reserve Charlie Culberson.UPDATE: The print run for the Seager/Culberson card is 704 copies. The print run for the division clinching card featuring Clayton Kershaw is 433 copies.

i am really hoping that topps is waiting for the end of the season to make a scully card. now that we know he has given his consent to topps for some cards, it is a total no-brainer to add him to the topps now set.

ReplyDeleteI am hoping for the same thing. I figured Sunday would be a great time to release one, but maybe they are waiting til the broadcast in San Francisco.
