Blog Kiosk: 10/6/2016 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

Yesterday afternoon the Dodgers jumped on a plane (as evidenced by a video tweeted by Charlie Culberson) and headed out to the capitol for this weekends NLDS matchup against the Nationals.  Once there, they held their first workout at the stadium.  Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com, Dave Roberts had this to say about the season so far:
"The thing I'm most pleased with is we've made no excuses and we've persevered," said Roberts. "We've got a tough group of players. In life and in sports, there's always talk about accountability and reasons why you don't have success, but our guys don't have that, and I think that's the thing I can hang my hat on."

“I feel like I’m growing into my body, and finally being able to control my body,” he said. “Hopefully the power keeps coming.”

Rios was second in the Dodger farm system with 27 homers. He slashed .301/.341/.567, splitting 108 games between Low-A Great Lakes, Rancho and Double-A Tulsa. There was a 33-game stretch with the Quakes in which he hit 16 homers and had an OPS of 1.187.

He homered once every 8.7 at-bats. Between July 8 and July 15, he had three multi-home run games.

“I love to hit home runs,” Rios said. “It’s fun running the bases (after).”
“I always wanted to be a Dodger,” he said Wednesday. “I heard the Dodgers had the best athletes, pretty uniforms and good bodies. I was like, ‘Shoot, you’re talking about me.’”
