Oh, boy! What a way to start a week.
Just when you thought the Dodgers flubbed the winter meetings they go ahead and make some waves. It only goes to show you that all you need is a little patience.

As you know, we got news that Kenley Jansen had inked a five year/$80 million contract to stay in Los Angeles on Monday - although, still unconfirmed. Then, almost immediately afterward, rumors spread that the Dodgers had also agreed to basic terms with Justin Turner, most noticeably via a tweet by Ken Rosenthal (btw, Jon Heyman tweets similar numbers):
Source: Turner contract with #Dodgers, when completed, will indeed be four years, $64M. @Joelsherman1 referred to those numbers earlier.— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 12, 2016

I think not!
...At least, that's what I want to think.
Nevertheless, it seems certain that if these contract numbers are right then Justin Turner took a discount to stay in Los Angeles, and this Dodger fan can help but feel an affinity for him - not that I needed much coaxing.
Thank you, Justin!
In honor of Turner's impending return to Los Angeles I made the above two fantasy Baseball cards of him. At the very top is a 1955 Topps Baseball card design and a screengrab taken from Chavez Ravine Fiends. At the right is a 1952 Topps Baseball card design with a photograph taken by Jon SooHoo/LA Dodgers 2016.
