LA Councilmember Gil Cedillo made a special presentation to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts yesterday afternoon at City Hall in recognition of his "Manager of the Year" award for the past season. This was part of the teams ongoing Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour that continues with a few more events today. Go here to watch a bunch of videos from yesterdays events, via Jon Weisman at Dodger Insider.
Fernando Valenzuela is scheduled for a surprise visit somewhere in the Southland. So, stay tuned for that. Additionally, Kiké Hernandez and Rob Segedin will make a surprise pizza delivery to a special group of city employees in recognition of their commitment to creating a positive impact in the community. Lastly, Joc Pederson will host a Pet Family Photo Day at the Silver Lake Dog Park, starting at 2:00 PM.

- Per Paul Swydan at FanGraphs; "Is Grant Dayton an Elite Reliever?"
Grant Dayton is a 29-year-old reliever who has faced only 119 batters in the major leagues — and he has done so with a fastball that averages 92 and tops out a hair below 95. That’s not typically the type of pitcher one would guess is elite. And yet, here we are, staring his excellent projections in the face, without much evidence to cast aspersions on it other than the fact that he hasn’t yet pitched through a whole major-league season. He’s about to though, and if he’s as good as the projections say, you’ll be hearing his name a lot more in the future.

- This coming Monday, January 30th is the 2nd Annual Justin Turner Foundation Golf Classic at the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, CA. Go here for information. In addition to Turner, Joc Pederson, Yasiel Puig, Adrián González, Scott Kazmir and Chase De Jong are expected to attend.
- Apparently, the Dodgers have added another bullpen arm. Per Jeff Todd at MLB Trade Rumors; "Dodgers To Sign Brandon Morrow." It's a minor league deal with an invitation to earn a roster with the Dodgers this spring.
- Baseball America's daily Prospect Report includes a little tidbit about Dodger prospect Henry Ramos (link here):
Ramos, who signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers in November, has been playing for Caguas in the Puerto Rican League and on Wednesday was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in a 6-5 win over Santurce that clinched the Puerto Rican championship for the Criollos. Ramos this winter hit .273/.317/.352 after playing at Double-A and Triple-A for the Red Sox in 2016. Ramos, a fifth-round pick of the Red Sox in 2010 out of high school in Puerto Rico, is best known for his athleticism and defense, showing a plus arm and plus range. He profiles as an extra outfielder.
- As I'm sure you've heard, the Dodgers will continue to limit the number of innings Julio Urias pitches this coming season. He threw only 122 innings last year (a career high and roughly 50% more than he threw the year before), and as a starter would be expected to throw at least 200 innings with the big club. Considering his youth and their desire to avoid future injury the team will try to be creative. Per Ken Gurnick on twitter, they will consider sending Urias to extended spring training to start the season:
One of the options under consideration to limit Julio Urias' innings is to have him begin the season at extended Spring, Roberts said.— Ken Gurnick (@kengurnick) January 25, 2017
