I guess you can't win them all.
Last night the Dodgers eleven game winning streak was snapped by the Braves and it just doesn't feel right. Heck, the Dodgers haven't lost at home in almost a month, and they haven't lost to a National League team since the early part of June. Per Austin Laymance and Joshua Thornton at MLB.com:
"It's a weird feeling," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "It's different. Even to that last out, I thought we were going to find a way to win the game. But I guess we have got to start another one tomorrow."Photo above of Kenley Jansen, Don Newcombe and Matt Kemp via Jon SooHoo/LA Dodgers 2017. - This Day in Dodgers History: In 1956 Dodgers shortstop Pee Wee Reese recorded his 2,000th career hit. Also, fellow teammate Junior Gilliam set a Major League record by handling twelve assist at second base.

- Awesome! Per Mike Oz at Big League Stew; "Opening 25-year-old baseball cards with Alyssa Milano."
- This is a breathtaking stat. Per Craig Calcaterra at NBC Sports; "Corey Seager has more homers than any other shortstop in Los Angeles Dodgers history."
- Hoping for another diamond in the rough. Per Raphielle Johnson at FanRag Sports; "Pitcher Tommy Layne joins Dodgers Triple-A affiliate."
Just over a month after being designated for assignment by the New York Yankees, left-handed relief pitcher Tommy Layne has joined the Oklahoma City Dodgers.Layne struggled during his time with the Yankees this season, posting a 7.62 ERA in 13 innings pitched over 19 appearances. On two separate occasions in May, Layne allowed three earned runs in a relief appearance. Layne’s most recent appearance at the major league level was on June 10 against the Orioles, a game in which he allowed one run on one hit. The Yankees would make the decision to designate him for assignment the following day.
- Topps newest On-Demand online exclusive Baseball card set focuses on the 2017 MLB All-Star Game by paying homage to the increasingly popular 1987 Topps Baseball card design. The set consist of 30 base cards, a chance at a random autograph and a guaranteed parallel card. Go here to check it out and order. It is only available over the next six days. To the right is a look at a Cody Bellinger base parallel card. Clayton Kershaw is also in the base set. Unfortunately, no Dodger player is on the autograph checklist.
- Per Chris Cotillo at SB Nation; "Cody Bellinger is happy to let Lonzo Ball have the LA sports spotlight."
“I’m a laid-back guy, so being all over TV ... that’s cool, but at the end of the day, it’s whatever,” Bellinger said. “They can have cameras following [Lonzo] all over the place.”
- Top Dodgers pitching prospect Walker Buehler had a very tough debut for Triple-A Oklahoma City yesterday. He could not record an out. He threw 29 pitches and gave up three runs. Per Jacob Unruh at NewsOK; "Walker Buehler has off day in Triple-A debut."
“I just didn’t make the pitches, man,” Buehler said. “I felt like I could have and just didn’t.”
- I really feel bad about this. Sergio Romo grew up a Dodger fan, so to see him struggle in Blue has been disheartening. I think it's fair to say we all wanted to see him succeed. Per Austin Laymance at MLB.com; "Dodgers activate Dayton, designate Romo."
"It's always a tough decision," manager Dave Roberts said. "Sergio is such a professional, and obviously with what he's done in the game, very good, very accomplished, three-time champion [with the Giants]. But right now, where we're at, Grant coming back, and just the way that we've used them and the guys, the depth we have in the bullpen, just felt that this gives us an opportunity to have a few days to trade him, find a fit, and if not, for him to land somewhere else.""But he always wanted to be a Dodger, had a chance to live that and I know that he wishes, we wish, the circumstances would have been different."
