Last night's win was the Dodgers 90th of the season. No Dodger club in their franchise has won 90 games this fast in their history. Per Adam Berry and Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"I like wins," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "I don't know where we were at last year, but it was toward the end of September with 90 wins. After last night's game, we showed again that we find a way to come back from a loss with a win."Photo above via @Dodgers on twitter. Below are more links to check out:
- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1979 the Hollywood Stars vs. the Media game was played at Dodger Stadium, and actor Robin Williams stole the show. He ran the bases backwards and explained that running the bases clockwise was very common on the Planet Ork (his character in the tv show Mork & Mindy). Jon Weisman at Dodger Insider shared a couple of pics of Robin at this game here. In 2012 the Dodgers completed a blockbuster trade with the Red Sox to get Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, Carl Crawford and Nick Punto. In 2016 the Dodgers traded AJ Ellis to the Phillies for Carlos Ruiz.

- Per Alexis Brudnicki at Baseball America; "Five Women Inside The Game Give Their Perspective On Working In Baseball" -- two of whom are from the Dodgers: Emilee Fragapane & Megan Schroeder. The game is certainly changing, and once again it appears the Dodgers are leading the way.
Per Emilee Fragapane: "I am very fortunate in that I haven't had any negative experiences with our baseball staff, and working more with the coaches and players in the last year, it's been glaringly obvious how good I have it . . . I'm very pleased with the way the Dodgers have hired people, and how understanding and accepting they've been of me and Megan (Schroeder), having women in our roles as equals, and respected equals. It's something special that we have here."
- I know this is the last thing you want to see, but here ya go anyway. As you can imagine, Wednesday's walk-off homer by Josh Harrison earned him a 2017 Topps now card. Check it out below. It includes a photo of Rich Hill on the reverse that kinda makes my skin crawl, but I will acknowledge that's it's a fantastic pic (especially so if you're a Pirates fan).
- In July I highlighted a Heritage Galleries auction that featured an original painting by Norman Rockwell that was a precursor study of his well known "Tough Call" painting (link here). At the time I wrote that I thought it would sell for double the auction estimate of $300,000. Now I find out how wrong I was. It closed at an astounding $1,680,000.00 (including buyers premium). Wow!
