Blog Kiosk: 9/5/2017 - Dodgers Links - Some Odds and Ends

Rich Hill was very good last night. Unfortunately, the relievers who followed were not. Heck, they were terrible. Hill, for his part, went a strong six innings, and only erred when he gave up a single in the fourth and a homer soon after to JD Martinez. That was the only bit of scoring against Hill. Then four relievers came in a proceeded to yield 11 runs on 12 hits (five of which were home runs) in three innings. Per Joshua Thornton at MLB.com:
The Dodgers aren't ready to hit the panic button despite this recent slide and don't plan on changing any of their normal routines going forward. Even with Monday's blowout loss, Roberts sees a shift coming and it starts with the performance Hill put on Monday.
"You win and go deep in the postseason with starting pitching in my opinion," Roberts said. "To have Rich [Hill] reset our starters and have an outing like this tonight, I think that's a good sign for all of us. We expect [Hyun-Jin] Ryu to do the same thing tomorrow."

L.A.’s top prospect at midseason is coming to the majors. The Dodgers are expected to call up the former Vanderbilt ace today and he’ll work out of the bullpen. Buehler was 3-3, 3.35 with 125 strikeouts and 31 walks in 88.2 innings at three levels. He struck out 26.3 percent of hitters. The Dodgers were careful with Buehler’s innings in his first full season following Tommy John surgery and he showed a dynamic four-pitch mix, including a fastball up to 99 mph.
A recent MRI revealed some issues in the elbow that Seager said will need to be addressed after the season.
Per Joe Rodgers at the Sporting News
“It’s probably something in the offseason I’ll have to address more,” Seager told reporters Monday of his elbow injury. “I’ll probably get another MRI and see if things got better or worse or different. It’s something that I’m not really trying to think about. Just go out and play.”
