2017 Topps Now - World Series Edition - #820, #821, #825, #826 & #829 - Game 2 Cards

After last nights game the Dodgers are saying all the right things. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:

"If you thought it was going to go 4-0, you're crazy," Puig said. "These are the two best teams in American baseball. That's what you get."

Jansen agreed.

"No, we're not frustrated," he said. "Nobody tells us it's going to be easy. The Houston Astros, the best team in the American League, we got to flat-out earn it. We'll go to their place and battle."

Wise words from two very important Dodger cogs. Following that, here are today's crop of Dodgers' 2017 Topps Now cards highlighting the Dodgers Game 2 loss. Although we are all clearly disappointed, we must all reflect on the fact that last nights multiple comeback efforts is proof that this team does not know how to quit. We just need to persevere, and I have faith that this team can do just that.

First up is the above Joc Pederson card celebrating his fifth inning solo home run to not only score the Dodgers first run of the day, but to also break Verlander's no-hit bid. Go here to check it out and order.

I love that they didn't bother to put words on the reverse. Instead, we get a fantastic photo of an enthusiastic Joc Pederson. See that on the right.

Who knew that last nights game would bring out a flurry of emotion from the Dodgers. Sure, you can expect that from Yasiel Puig, but Seager?

No way.

That guy is as undemonstrative as they come. Yet, last night he showed a furor that I'd never seen from him. During his sixth inning at-bat he smashed a two-run home run to give the Dodgers a two-run lead. As you can see in the photos used for this card, Seager screamed when he realized that he knocked it out. Go here to check it out and order.

What a roller coaster, eh?

We fell behind, then came out on top, only to see us lose that lead in the late innings. To make matters worse, our bullpen proceeded to give up two more runs in the top of the tenth to seemingly shut the doors on Los Angeles. Fortunately, Yasiel Puig was there to do something about it. He sparked a tenth inning comeback that still has me in awe. He leadoff the inning, down by two runs, and proceeded to hit a solo jack that brought the team and the stadium to its feet. His homer brought the dodgers within one run of tying it up. Go here to check out the card that celebrates this hit.

And here's the second card focused on the Dodgers at-bats during the tenth inning. Go here to check it out and order. It says this on the reverse:

With the Dodgers down to their last out in the bottom of the 10th inning, down a run with a runnier on second base, Enrique Hernandez singles on a sharp ground ball to right-fielder Josh Reddick off of Astros closer Ken Giles. The single drove in Logan Forsythe, knotting the Game 2 at five a piece and sending it deeper into extra innings.

Sadly, Topps elected to not make a card highlighting Charlie Culberson's eleventh inning homer. Instead, he is a part of a card that celebrates a record that was broken due to the collective efforts of both the Dodgers and Astros bats. This last card tells us that the eight home runs hit last night set a new World Series record for the number of homers hit in one game. Go here to check it out and order.
