For most folks this honor bestowed by Topps is but a small highlight. For a collector like myself it's the ultimate sign of respect.
This morning Topps announced, through the MLB Network (twitter video link here), their All-Star Rookie Cup Team, and one Dodger made the cut.
Can you guess who it was?
Since 1959 Topps has commemorated the leagues top rookies by naming them to their All-Star Rookie Cup Team. This distinction means that the players 2018 flagship Baseball card will include a “Rookie Cup” logo. As an example, check out the Cody Bellinger's card above that is slated to be released at the start of Spring Training next year. It is his 2018 card, and as you can see it includes a small "Rookie Cup" on the bottom right. Per Topps.com:
“This is one of the most impressive Topps MLB All-Star Rookie Team classes I have seen,” said David Leiner, Vice President and General Manager of Topps North American Sports & Entertainment. “It shows how incredibly popular baseball was this year with its young breakout stars. They join an incredible group of players who have won the Topps Rookie Cup in the past and will have the special logo appear on their Topps trading cards next season.”Below is a complete listing of all eleven Rookie Cup Team members. Furthermore, it is my understanding that a Topps Now version featuring this team will be made available soon. I'll be sure to make note of it once it is available to order.
