- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1989 the Dodgers signed both veteran outfielder Hubie Brooks and reliever Mike Maddux as free agents. In 2001 the Dodgers re-signed free agent starting pitcher Hideo Nomo - he had been traded by the Dodgers in 1998.

Source: Tom Koehler's one-year deal with the Dodgers is for $2 million and includes bonuses for games pitched or started. The hope is he's this year's Joe Blanton or Brandon Morrow: a longtime starter who cottons to relief work and sees his stuff play up.— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) December 20, 2017

- Via Lindsay Kramer at Syracuse.com; "Auburn's Tim Locastro more excited than ever to unwrap a new baseball season." You should expect to see Tim in LA at some point next season.
Locastro has always been a scrappy player who hasn't needed much motivation to create havoc on the baseball field, but his weekend in a Dodgers uniform has invigorated him even more. He ended the season on Los Angeles' 40-man roster, which was a first for him and strengthens his status heading into 2018 spring training with the team."It's just feeling how close you are right now. It's in site,'' Locastro said of a possible major league spot. "You can't let yourself down at all. This is what you aim for. You are so close, you want to keep it going. You don't want to settle for where you are. You are more hungry than ever.''
