Justin Turner hosted the third annual Justin Turner Golf Classic yesterday afternoon. Per Ryan Walton at True Blue LA:
“To see how much this event has grown in just three years has been amazing to us,” said Kourtney Turner. “Sponsors have been reaching out to us wanting to get involved after they heard what we’re doing in the community. They want to be a part of it and it’s incredible to us.”
Monday was the first time in the three years that Turner himself has actually played in the event. The Dodger third baseman was anxiously awaiting his chance to play while he and his wife personally put together gift bags in their garage Sunday night.Pic above via @Dodgers on twitter. Yu Darvish has yet to come to terms on a new deal and is reportedly holding out for the Los Angeles Dodgers to free up payroll space to sign him, according to Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times....
In their quest to bring back the 31-year-old right-hander, the Dodgers have looked into trading away Yasmani Grandal, Hyun-Jin Ryu, and Logan Forsythe, who would be useful, but ultimately wouldn't receive guaranteed playing time.

- I don't know what to think of this, but apparently this all began when they were both with the Dodgers. Via Kristie Ackert at the NY Daily News; "Nick Francona, son of Cleveland manager Terry, war veteran, bashes Phillies manager Gabe Kapler for perceived anti-military bias."
“It is extremely difficult to reconcile the statements from MLB officials that they care about veterans while they allowed Gabe Kapler to act with impunity,” Francona said Sunday. “It is hypocritical that a player can be suspended for making an offensive gesture during the World Series, which was followed by grand proclamations from the Commissioner about how this behavior wasn’t acceptable, but when something occurs that is far more deliberate and manipulative, MLB allowed the individuals involved to avoid any consequences whatsoever.”In a letter to MLB back in January 2017, Francona, who worked for Kapler with the Dodgers, charged that he used the stereotypes of veterans with combat experience to create conflict and a hostile work environment. After he notified Kapler that he was going for an appointment at Home Base, which helps war veterans treat the psychological effects combat leaves, Francona said he felt he was being pushed out of his job in player development. Francona charged that Kapler immediately responded to news he would be going to Home Base, a program endorsed by the Red Sox when his father was the manager, by asking if he had “used hard drugs.” He also began pressuring Francona to take a leave of absence.
