So, that happened last night.
As you surely know by now, Dodger Stadium was beset with a unseemly leak on the field that forced an early end to the last spring game of the season. A sewer pipe had burst, and if you've ever been witness to such a thing then you know this was the right call. Nobody should have to sit around and possibly get into contact with any of that dirty water.
They ended up calling the game in the fifth inning -- with the Dodgers leading the Angels 4-3. Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“Apparently, in the middle of the fifth inning, there was a pipe backup on two different levels of the stadium,” Kasten said. “We don’t know exactly where the backup was or what caused it. It had something to do with a main pipe here as well as a main pipe outside. The city is aware of it. The city is on the scene, and they’re trying to figure that out. We could’ve stayed there and tried to locate it, address it, work on the field…we had no idea how long that would take.”You can watch Kasten talk about it here. - This Day in Dodgers History: In 1991 the Dodgers released longtime Dodger starter Fernando Valenzuela. Per an AP article in the Lodi News-Sentinel:
"I will never forget Fernando and all he has done for me and the Los Angeles Dodgers," manager Tom Lasorda said. "It was a privilege and honor to manage him over the years because he was without a doubt a great talent and a great competitor. I want to thank him for all the memories."

- Good guy, Mark Walter. He and the Dodgers have pledged $2Million to help rebuild Puerto Rico. This is in addition to the over $225,000 already raised by Kiké Hernández and his fiancée Mariana Vicente. Per a Dodger press release:
Habitat for Humanity of Puerto Rico was selected to receive the donation after consultation with Toa Baja, Puerto Rico resident and Dodger infielder/outfielder Kiké Hernández and his fiancée Mariana Vicente, who added to the Dodgers’ donation with over $225,000 raised through their fundraiser on You Caring and “Puerto Rico Se Levanta” charity t-shirt sales through 500 LEVEL. The donation has been earmarked to focus on rehabilitating/reconstructing damaged homes in Humacao, Santa Isabel, Ponce, Patillas, Arroyo and constructing new housing in Guayama. According to government estimates, the hurricane severely damaged or destroyed more than a third of the island’s 1.2 million occupied homes and more than 60,000 new homes need to be constructed.“It’s been more than six months since Hurricane Maria’s devastating effects on Puerto Rico and with so much work still to be done, the Dodgers want to do our part to help with the island’s rebuilding and recovery efforts,” said Dodger Owner and Chairman Mark Walter. “Kiké and Mariana have been such strong advocates for Puerto Rico, and we want to join their families and loved ones in helping repair the community and work towards a return to normalcy.”

We here at The Stew decided to have a little fun before the 2018 actually takes place. Just for the heck of it, we simulated through an entire season of “MLB: The Show 18” and took notes on the postseason, All-Star events and significant awards just to see what the game thought would happen.
