Just a fantastic photograph of the "Duke" from 1956. It is currently available at auction at RMY (link here).
Below are more links to check out:
- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1962 Dodgers left-handed rookie Pete Richert made his major league debut by striking out the first six batters he faced -- tying records for strike outs in an inning (4 K's in the 3rd inning), successive strike outs by a pitcher in his major league debut, and consecutive strikeouts by a relief pitcher. BTW, he also won the game when the Dodgers mounted a comeback by scoring seven runs in the fifth inning.
- Happy Birthday, John Harkins, Mickey O'Neil, Walt Moryn, Vicente Romo, Paul LoDuca, Antonio Osuna & Justin Ruggiano!
- Here are photos from last nights game by Cat Loves the Dodgers; including a whole bunch of Trayce Thompson in Oakland green.
- ICYMI: You can watch the entire 2020 All-Star Game announcement press conference here (via CBS on youtube).
- It's funny when it happens to other teams. Via Mark Townsend at Big League Stew; "Trayce Thompson robs Yasiel Puig of a homer, gets redemption against Dodgers." Puig had this to say about the catch, via his twitter:
"I had good stuff and somebody up there likes me," Richert said of his first big league game. "What I mean is that I always say a little prayer when I’m nervous and excited. And I was tonight as I started walking to the mound."
Per a twitter translation: "These are one of the things I admire of my former colleague Trayce Thompson always playing strong and with much love God continue to give many blessings and the opportunity to play much more because he actually deserves it."
- Per Jacob Unruh at NewsOK; "Tim Locastro's callup was brief and crazy, but it's now motivation."
Locastro was going to be a base-stealing threat if he made the roster. Though he didn't make the postseason roster, it was those three days that gave him hope entering Oklahoma City's home opener Tuesday night against Round Rock.“I think being able to get my feet wet last year was a great stepping stone,” Locastro said Tuesday. “I was taking it like I was playing with the house's money. I was trying to enjoy it but make an impression.”
- I just can't get enough of Vin Scully. Listen to him wax poetic about the Dodgers and the upcoming 2020 All-Star Game below, via a tweet from the Dodgers:
This is more than steel, concrete, dirt and grass. This is our home...and we can’t wait. #ASG pic.twitter.com/d9bYVXyS87— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) April 11, 2018
