Max Muncy helped power the Dodgers to come from behind and defeat the Rockies in Colorado, 10-7. He walloped two homers; including a three-run shot in the third inning that brought the Dodgers within two runs of tying the game. They would eventually win and sweep the Rockies in the ninth inning. Per Ken Gunick at MLB.com:
"Every time [he's] in the box, it feels like he's going to get a hit," said manager Dave Roberts. "The energy he brings in the middle of the lineup or top of the order, he's productive."Photo above of Max Muncy via Matt Kelley at MLB.com on Dodger Insider. Below are more links to check out:
- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1964 Sandy Koufax threw his third no-hitter of his career. He blanked the Phillies at Connie Mack Stadium, 3-0. Overall, he recorded 12 strike outs and allowed just one walk. In 1968 Don Drysdale threw his sixth consecutive shutout of the season, extending his scoreless streak to 54 innings, when he defeated the Pirates, 5-0. This is also the day Robert Kennedy made note of Drysdale's efforts in a speech at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles after winning the CA primary. You can watch that portion of the speech here. Soon thereafter, he would be assassinated. In 1972 the Dodgers retired Roy Campanella's number - #39. In 1998 the Dodgers traded Hideo Nomo to the Mets for Dave Mlicki and Greg McMichael. In 1990 Dodgers ace Ramón Martínez struck out 18 Atlanta batters to defeat the Braves, 2-0. His effort tied a club record for strike outs in a game with Sandy Koufax, and was one short of the Major League record.

“I think it’s comparable to last year … as far as a baseline,” Roberts said. “I don’t think it’s too serious so that’s a positive. But obviously any time he’s going to miss because of the back is disappointing. But to know he’s going to be back to help us win games this year is a good thing.”

I played in the G.I. World Series in Frankfurt, Germany in '45. We had a baseball team form after the war. Our 26th Infantry (Division) played the 508th (Parachute Infantry Regiment) paratroopers in the G.I. World Series. We kicked their a**. It was a thing to entertain the troops. My first year (in the major leagues) was Brooklyn in 1950. We get ready to go on the first road trip and the traveling secretary comes up to me and says, “Bobby, I got you rooming with Pee Wee. Is that OK?' I said, “You got to be kidding me. He's my idol.” He was just a super guy on and off the field.

- ICYMI: The Dodgers claimed left-handed pitcher P.J. Conlon from the Mets. He has been assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. Per a Dodger press release:
Conlon made his Major League debut with the Mets on May 7, and made two relief appearances for the club, posting a 11.12 ERA (7 ER/5.2 IP) and striking out two batters. In 77 career minor league games (53 starts), the Belfast native has gone 22-15 with three complete-games and two saves, while posting a 2.85 ERA and limiting the opposition to a .241 average.Conlon, 30, is the first Belfast native to play in the majors since Henry "Irish" McIlveen, who played from 1906, 1908-1909 with Pittsburgh and the New York Highlanders. The lefty is the 46th Irish-born player to play in the majors and first since Joe Cleary pitched for the Washington Senators on August 4, 1945.
