Blog Kiosk: 7/30/2018 - Dodgers Links - Buy a #KCancer T-Shirt!

Over the weekend the Dodgers were witness to some lunacy. The hometown teams announcers complained about the Dodgers' pregame batting practice attire (see pic above via Sara Morton/MLB.com at Dodger Insider). Per Jon Weisman at Dodger Insider:
Joe Simpson: But if I were a Dodgers fan, I’d be embarrassed. And I don’t know how Major League Baseball allows such attire when the gates are open and the fans are watching. Chase Utley, I have nothing but respect for him, his whole career, thinking he’s a great player and I thought he always played the game the right way. That was an embarrassment what he had on today during practice.
So, he's angry that some of the players wore #KCancer t-shirts? Are you kidding me? BTW, you can purchase your own t's here. The sale of this t-shirt will benefit  San Juan Children’s Hospital and the Jason Motte FoundationBelow are more links to check out:
"It's past," said Roberts. "For us, it's water under the bridge. If he talked to Chase and Chase is good with it, it's fine by me."
Roberts, however, also said the game "is driven by the players," and while the game is changing, those in the game must change with it.
"Where a bat flip or whatever it might be that adds a little color to the game, doesn't mean it's wrong," he said. "You judge a player by running balls out, playing the game hard. That's what's important. The game is fun. To hold players to a certain standard that they have to act a certain way for it to be professional, for me is absurd.
  • Via Ken Gurnick at MLB.com; "Urias' return could be like Deadline deal for LA: Roberts sees less need for trades with several pitchers on the mend."
Easily the most intriguing bullpen candidate is Urias.
"We don't know what we're going to get," Roberts said of Urias, "but I will say that in the postseason of '16, and his first taste of the big leagues and what he did -- the heartbeat, the stuff -- to get him back in a short stint is something we feel comfortable we can bet on. We're all excited for this."
Roberts said the reports on Urias in recent weeks have all been favorable.
This represents Gonsolin’s third consecutive appearance in this weekly exercise, and it’s possibly his most deserving. Since last Friday’s edition of the Five, the right-hander has made two starts. In 13.0 innings between them, Gonsolin recorded a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 18:3 against 50 batters.
