Check Out Some Historic Dodgers Memorabilia at Lelands

Lelands 2018 Invitational auction is now open and hidden within its catalog are numerous Dodger items that I thought worth sharing here.

For instance, check out this watch.

Above is something that has never been offered to a hungry collecting public. In fact, it comes directly from Rachel Robinson, herself. Featured is a watch given to Jackie Robinson in 1951 by LOOK Magazine. (Auction Link) As you may know, this periodical had the honor of publishing Jackie's official retirement announcement. On another note, this timepiece was apparently Jackie's main everyday watch.

Next is a real game-used Roy Campanella bat with a very unusual marking. (Auction Link) As you can see below, a phase had been "x'd" out on the barrell. It used to say, "World Series 1951". As you know, the Dodgers did not play in the 1951 Fall Classic. That season they lost the pennant to the cheating Giants on a walk-off home run by Bobby Thompson -- since dubbed "The Shot Heard 'Round the World".

This last item used to adorn ol' Ebbets Field in Brooklyn. (Auction Link)

Above is an original cast iron baseball gate ornament shaped as a baseball. According to the auction description:
Its consignor was friends with the owner of Rocco Brothers, a demolition company responsible for the removal of stands and some fences in the stadium.
Being the curious sort, I had to figure out exactly where this ornament was located, and I think I figured it out. Below is a exterior view of the stadium along either the right field or left field lines, and within the red/highlighted are is what I believe is this cast iron baseball. If you know otherwise, please pass that along.
