Last night's three heroes now have their own Topps Now cards to call their own. First up is Hyun-Jin Ryu and it makes note of his stellar seven inning pitching performance. He yielded no runs, only four singles and struck out eight Brave batters. Go here to check it out and order. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:His changeup had the Braves off balance throughout the lineup.
"He did what we knew he was going to do," said Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman. "He pitches backwards. Every time you think you're going to get something, it's always the opposite. He commands up, down, in and out. The back-door cutters were big against righties and he kept throwing changeups to lefties, which kept us off balance."
To start things off, though, was Dodgers lead-off man Joc Pederson, and as the second Dodgers card of the day says, he became only the sixth ballplayer to have ever started a postseason with a homer. Go here to check it out and order. Per AJ Cassavell at MLB.com:"It's pretty special," Pederson said. "That guy had plus-plus stuff, and we were just trying to get him early and get some guys on base. I got behind 0-2, and I was able to battle and put a ball on the barrel. I definitely wasn't trying to do that, but it was really nice."
And who could forget Max Muncy. He continues to astound the Baseball world by hitting home runs. He blasted a three-run dinger to put the Dodgers up 4-0 in the second inning. Go here to check it out and order."It's just a result of us having a good approach and good at-bats," Muncy said. "A lot of the home runs we've had have come off of long at-bats, working the counts and wearing the pitcher down. Again, I don't feel like we're trying to hit a home run. It's just the result of a good approach."
