With the World Series in full swing just about every sports-related auction house has something going on to occupy the minds and pocketbooks of Baseball collectors everywhere. So, with today being an off-day I thought I would begin the afternoon by sharing some Dodger treasures found at Hunt's 15th Annual Live Auction at Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory.
Featured above and to the right is a 1977 Dodgers National League Champions ring that was given out to Chub Feeney. So, who's that? (Auction Link)
Chub was not in the employ of the Dodgers. Rather, he was the President of the National League (1970-1986), and was a longtime Giants executive before that - functioning as the teams head of Baseball operations for almost 24 years. While with that rival he spearheaded the signing of the first players from the Dominican Republic (including the Alou brothers) and from Japan (Masanori Murakami).
Lastly, directly below is a very unique and apparently rare 1950's era Dodger Blue satin team jacket with the word "Rookies" stitched on front. (Auction Link) Over the past few days I've been searching my brain trying to figure out where I've seen this before. I'm certain someone more informed than myself has written about it, but for the life of me I can't remember where. Did UniWatch or Todd Radom write about this? I dunno.
