The Japan Series begins in earnest later this week, but in the meantime it's MLB players spent the weekend in Hawaii getting prepared and working out. Per Kyle Galdeira at MLB.com:
"We want guys to walk out of here healthy, have a great experience and, when we get to Japan, play at full speed and represent Major League Baseball well," Mattingly said. "It's a great chance to relax a little bit and get ready for the trip."In addition to Chris Taylor, seen above, other Dodgers travelling to Japan include Kenta Maeda and Kiké Hernandez.

- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1936 the Dodgers named former spitballer Burleigh Grimes as their manager. In 1940 former Dodgers lawyer Wendell Willkie loses to third term American President Franklin D. Roosevelt in todays Presidential election. He would later on become VP and legal counsel for Brooklyn in the early 40's and would then be replaced by Walter O'Malley. In 2008 Dodgers pitcher Greg Maddux wins his 18th career Gold Glove.

"The Dodgers have been great, and this gives me a little better feeling, obviously," said Honeycutt, who was a guest of "Press Row" on Chattanooga's ESPN 105.1 FM. "They also gave (Hyun-Jin) Ryu a qualifying offer, so hopefully we'll have him, too. Every year, the travel gets tougher because I'm getting older. I have talked with Dave, but I haven't talked with the front office as of yet, but I'm sure we'll be talking soon. I'm probably going to work something out for at least one more year."

The philharmonic will kick off its 2018-19 Discovery season by teaming up with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dodgers and Energy at 2 p.m. Sunday for the “Sports and Music” concert at the Civic Center. Thunder mascot Rumble the Bison will conduct John Philip Sousa’s “The Thunderer,” OKC Dodgers mascots Brooklyn and Brix will play along with Julius Fucik’s “Entrance of the Gladiators,” and the Western Avenue Boxing Club will get into the ring with Bill Conti’s “Gonna Fly Now,” aka the theme from “Rocky.”“We’re trying to kind of show the audience that even though there typically is that divide ... between sports and music, if you’re a professional musician, you’re also an athlete. You just use different muscle groups than a soccer player does. You’re using your fingers, you’re using your breath, you’re using your lips, your hands to create sound, so there’s something very athletic in what we do, too. I like to break down that stereotype as much as I can,” Troy said, adding that musicians must be physically conditioned and guard against injury just like sports figures.
