Ongoing is SCP's Fall Premier Auction and featured here are just a handful of Dodgers related memorabilia treasures I wanted to point out. First up is a complete game ticket to Sandy Koufax's 1965 perfect game. (Auction Link) It is just the second full ticket ever graded by PSA.
Being complete and untorn, I wonder if its original owner regrets not sitting in the stands on this day. Sandy recorded 27 straights outs to blank the Cubs, 1-0, in front of 29,139 fans at Dodger Stadium.
Speaking of the Cubs, this next item used to fly high at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Above is a circa 1990's Dodgers team flag that includes autographs of 41 different Dodger players. (Auction Link) As you know, above the Wrigley scoreboard in centerfield the Cubs fly the team flags on a pole based upon their current standings in their respective divisions. This flag measures 5' X 3' and shows obvious use.
Lastly, below is a Sandy Koufax game-used cap. (Auction Link) It comes originally from the Helms Athletic Foundation/LA84 Collection. Notably, the cap also includes a custom plastic hard shell insert for added protection on the mound.
Lately, I've noticed some auctions featuring vintage Dodger caps and this plastic shell hidden within. Jackie Robinson famously wore something similar during his playing days, and I now wonder how common something like this was. Were the Dodgers the only players who opted to wear these? Are there players today who wear such a contraption?
