Weekend Autograph Opportunity: Jon Weisman Book Signing and Q&A -- Forsythe, Barnes, Hernandez and Russell Early Next Week
Here are this weekends autograph opportunities and events throughout the Southland. As always, be sure to check the Blue Heaven Calendar for other events (a link can always be found on the tab at the top of this page, just left of center), and always confirm with the establishment. Everything is subject to change. Please email me with any tips about upcoming events in Southern California. As the rest of the week progresses I'll update this post with other events (if there are any) as I become aware of them. Also, I don't always list every event below, so be sure to check my Calendar. I always try to favor free signing events over paying events. Click on any pic to embiggen.

Can't anyone stay healthy. This is starting to get beyond frustrating.
As you know, Hyun-Jin Ryu left last nights game during the second inning after experiencing a left groin sprain. Weirdly, the strain occurred after he threw a 64 MPH curveball (per JP Hoornstra on twitter). BTW, he's going to have an MRI. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:

"It doesn't feel good," Ryu said through an interpreter. "This seems to be worse than the ones in the past. Definitely very disappointed. I came into the season very healthy and had very good performances in the season. At this point, I'm very frustrated and very disappointed."Pic on the right via Dodger Insider/Matt York/AP Photo. - This Day in Dodgers History: In 1947 Branch Rickey makes a trade that sends a signal to the Dodgers clubhouse - He will not waver in his commitment to breaking the color barrier and supporting Jackie Robinson. He trades Kirby Higbe, Dixie Howell, Cal McLish, Hank Behrman and Gene Mauch to Pittsburgh for Al Gionfriddo and $100,000. Higbe is the special target of this trade, as he openly disapproved of Robinson as a teammate. In 1986 Ron Cey hit his 300th and 301st career home runs. He did it as a Cub against the Giants.
- Happy Birthday, Dan Bankhead, Chris Cannizzaro, Davey Lopes & Darren Dreifort!
