Weekend Autograph Opportunity: Kenley Jansen and Tommy Lasorda

Here are this weekends autograph opportunities and events throughout the Southland. As always, be sure to check the Blue Heaven Calendar for other events (a link can always be found on the tab at the top of this page, just left of center), and always confirm with the establishment. Everything is subject to change.  Please email me with any tips about upcoming events in Southern California.  As the rest of the week progresses I'll update this post with other events (if there are any) as I become aware of them.  Also, I don't always list every event below, so be sure to check my Calendar.  I always try to favor free signing events over paying events.  Click on any pic to embiggen.

The Topps Living Set - #42 Jackie Robinson - Now Available

We now enter the 14th week of the Topps Living Baseball Set. So far, only one Dodger has been made available for sale. In mid-April Topps released the Chris Taylor card (see that here). This week, Topps is issuing the Jackie Robinson card, and as you might have guessed it is #42. See it above and below. Go here to check it out and order. It will only be available for direct online purchase from Topps over the next seven days.

2018 Topps Series 2 - All the Dodgers Base Cards

The Series 2 part of Topps 2018 flagship Baseball card set is now in stores. Check out all of the Dodgers' base and variation cards below. Go here for a complete checklist.

There are at least seven different Dodger photo variation cards available; including two Seager cards and a Legends Variations for both Jackie Robinson and Sandy Koufax. It is also notable that Andre Ethier is included in the base set -- possibly his last Dodger card.

You can't stop this train!

Joc Pederson, Max Muncy and Yasiel Puig all hit homers against the portly one, Bartolo Colon, last night to continue an offensice spurt that has seen the Dodgers go from ten games below .500 to games back to two games above. They now sit just three games back of the Diamondbacks. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
"This energy, this confidence. Hitting is contagious," said Pederson. "It's a fun thing. Winning's fun."
...
"I try not to think about it. It's hard not to," Muncy said of his torrid streak. "Games are a lot of fun right now. Everyone's feeling the momentum up and down the lineup."

  • This Day in Dodgers HistoryIn 1973 the famed Dodger infield of Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell and Ron Cey play on the field for the first time. Ten days later they would be inserted into the starting lineup for the first time. In 1998 the very first triple play is executed at Dodger Stadium. It sequence is 1-6-4-5 in the fifth inning -- with men at 1st and 2nd, Darren Dreifort fields a sacrifice bunt attempt, throws to shortstop Jose Vizcaino at 2nd, who then throws to covering second baseman Eric Young at 1st, who then throws to Bobby Bonilla at 3rd to get the final out. See the GIF on right to see the play.
