2018 Topps Now - #898 & #899 - Cody Bellinger's Heroic Game 4

Now that Game 5 has started I thought I would put up the numerous Cody Bellinger 2018 Topps Now cards created this afternoon to celebrate his extra inning efforts last night. As you know, he's faced plenty of criticism, of late, regarding his poor start in the series, so seeing him break-out a bit was very welcome.

The first card issued celebrates his belly-flop-catch of a sinking drive to short right field. Go here to check it out and order. Below is what's written on the reverse:

Cody Bellinger made an incredible diving catch in the top of the 10th inning to rob Lorenzo Cain od a leadoff hit. With the game tied at one, Bellinger would later win the game on his first career walk off hit in the 13th inning to lead the Dodgers to a 2-1 win over the Brewers, tying the NLCS at two games apiece.

Topps Living Set - #95 - Clayton Kershaw

I suppose there's no better time than now for Topps to release their seventh Dodgers' Topps Living Set card - this time of Clayton Kershaw. After all, Kersh is slated to pitch this afternoon's Game 5 for the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. On top of that, some might interpret his words from yesterday's press conference to be a sign that he'll be moving-on this coming off-season. As you know, he has an option to opt-out of his current contract and become a free agent for the first time. So, keeping in line with this Topps brand, they probably figured they should issue a card for him now just in case he leaves for other pastures this winter. Go here to check out the card and order.

Blog Kiosk: 10/17/2018 - Dodgers Links - Game 5 this Afternoon!

Everyone wants to talk about Bellinger and his fantastic diving catch and walk-off single. I would rather point out how great our bullpen has been. Last night their entire eight-man relief corp recorded eight scoreless innings, and overall they've given up only two runs in 19.2 inning pitched. That is the only reason we are still in this thing. Per Todd Zolecki at MLB.com:

"It was hard to watch everybody walk out of the bullpen and be the last one," Urias said through the team's interpreter. "But it was kind of motivating to watch everyone do their job and I was able to do mine, and when we got the run it all worked out."

On another note, I am excited by the starting staff next season that will include Walker Buehler and Julio Urias. It promises to be electric.
