Cody Bellinger had quite a weekend -- earning him two Topps Now cards.
Beginning on Friday, he walloped his league-leading 6th home run of the season against the hapless Rockies -- earning him his second 2019 Topps Now card of the year. Check it out above and to the right. I had neglected putting this card up on Saturday, so I'm a couple of days too late on this notice. BTW, this card sold 378 copies. Below is what's written on the reverse:
Cody Bellinger crushed a three-run home run against the Rockies to lead the Dodgers to a 10-6 victory. With the blast, Bellinger joined Eddie Matthews (1953) and Alex Rodriquez (2007) as the only MLB players ever with six home runs and 16 RBI through the first eight games of a season. Bellinger's home run and RBI totals through 8 games into a season are both franchise records as well. Then to cap things off, he hit his seventh homer on Sunday -- garnering him his second card of the weekend -- and it was a doozy. You can watch that homer here. Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“I’m just feeling good and trying to keep it going,” Bellinger told reporters. His herculean efforts this week earned him 'National League Player of the Week' honors -- his first award since his rookie campaign in 2017. BTW, his second 2019 Topps Now card from this weekend (see on the right and below) makes note of his record-tying first ten-games of the year where his only equal is Willie Mays. You can go here to order this card right now. Below is what's written on the reverse:
Cody Bellinger set a franchise record for the Los Angeles Dodgers when he hit his seventh home run in the first 10 games of the 2019 season. Since 1920, the only other player to have seven home runs and 18 RBI through the first 10 games of the season was Willie Mays in 1964. Bellinger is batting a scorching .455 while leading the League in both homer runs and RBI.I suspect we'll see another card celebrating his 'Player of the Week' honors soon.
