Last nights monumental efforts by Ryu and Turner has earned them their first 2019 Topps Now cards of the season. Ryu recorded a complete game shutout against the Atlanta Braves. He even had a perfect game going in to the sixth inning. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
Tyler Flowers spoiled Ryu’s perfect game by grounding a single past a diving Turner and into left field leading off the sixth inning. Turner joked if he’d realized at the time that Ryu was working on a perfect game, he might have called on superhero powers.
“When I looked up and saw the '1' flash on the board, I wanted to kick myself a little bit more,” said Turner. “Try to dive and ‘Go-Go Gadget Arm’ that ball into the six-hole.”Go here to check it out and order. To the right is what's written on the reverse:
Hyun-Jin Ryu stifled the Atlanta Braves over nine innings, allowing just four hits, walking none and striking out six batters in a complete game shutout. Ryu needed just 93 pitches to suppress a lethal lineup for the Braves and lowered his season ERA to 2.03. The dominant effort contributed to the Dodgers convincing 9-0 victory.
Justin Turner's evening was just as impressive as Ryu's. For the first time in his career he cranked out three home runs in a game. Turner went 4-for 5, recorded six RBI and a run-scoring single in the second inning. Per Ken Gurnick at MLB.com:
“Been feeling good at the plate, just not getting good results, and tonight I got good results,” said Turner. “I have felt better the last couple weeks, hitting balls hard and tonight got three up in the air. The timing’s felt good. Been missing a lot of good pitches to hit. Finding the barrel a lot more frequently lately.”Go here to check it out and order. To the right is what's written on the reverse:
Justin Turner broke out with a huge day at the plate, launching three home runs and driving in six runs to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-0 victory over the Atlanta Braves. It was an impressive display from a consistent hitter who had yet to find his power stroke in 2019.
