I think it's safe to say that everybody had a fun time at last nights Blue Diamond Gala in support of the Dodgers Foundation. Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“We have a lot of stuff that goes on during the season on off days that guys don’t always look forward to, but I think this is one event that happens every year — as well as Clayton (Kershaw)’s ping-pong event — where guys put it in the calendar and look forward to it,” said Justin Turner, “especially when you have a guy like Bruno Mars performing.”They raised over $3 million in support of the organization. - This Day in Dodgers History: In 1973 the famed Dodger infield of Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell and Ron Cey play on the infield together for the first time. Ten days later they would be inserted into the starting lineup for the first time. In 1998 the very first triple play is executed at Dodger Stadium. It sequence is 1-6-4-5 in the fifth inning -- with men at 1st and 2nd, Darren Dreifort fields a sacrifice bunt attempt, throws to shortstop Jose Vizcaino at 2nd, who then throws to covering second baseman Eric Young at 1st, who then throws to Bobby Bonilla at 3rd to get the final out. See the GIF on right to see the play.
- Happy Birthday, Gene McCann, Bill Bergen & Charlie Malay!
- I want to extend a hearty Blue Heaven congratulations to the Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues! Thank you for beating Boston.

- This mornings Baseball America Prospect Report makes note of Dodger shortstop Gavin Lux:
The Dodgers’ No. 3 prospect had two homers from the leadoff spot for Double-A Tulsa. The shortstop hit a solo shot to lead off the ball game followed by a two-run home run in fifth inning. Lux has been heating up lately, with four extra-base hits and five RBIs in his last three games.
- Here's some news on the recently IL'd Scott Alexander, via a tweet by Jorge Castillo:
Scott Alexander said the pain is more in his bicep than forearm. He said he’s been dealing with it for over a week but it worsened to a point that he couldn’t pitch through it when he was warming up last night.— Jorge Castillo (@jorgecastillo) June 12, 2019
- The Dodgers just added another potential bullpen arm into the system, and it's a name we know. Via a tweet by Alex Freedman:
#Dodgers signed old friend Zac Rosscup as a minor league free agent. He’ll be officially added to OKC’s roster tonight. Made 17 appearances for LAD last season. Has been with the Mariners and Blue Jays this season.— Alex Freedman (@azfreedman) June 12, 2019
- Panini will once again be providing Father's Day packs for this weekends holiday. Per Panini America's blog -- "Signs of Father’s Day: Panini America Peeks Autograph Lineup for 2019 Father’s Day Set." To the right is a look at a Steve Garvey card that will be available.
- Um... What? Via Franco Ordonez at NPR -- "Trump Will Play Ball With MLB On Cuban Players If League Helps With Venezuela." I'm not quite sure how MLB can help.
Trump met Monday with MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred to discuss the league's concerns that Cuban ballplayers risk their lives hiring human smugglers to get them to the United States to play. The White House told NPR on Tuesday that it was willing to continue to talk with MLB about the issue, but administration officials also sought MLB's assistance with the crisis in Venezuela.
- eBay pays homage to Baseball cards. They have just announced their inaugural Baseball Card Hall of Fame class and it includes ten ballplayers. Unfortunately, a Dodger is not among them. Go here to check it out.
The 2019 class represents 10 legends and 5 hopefuls whose trading cards have held the highest value and had the greatest influence on the baseball cards and collectibles world. Inductees were selected based on more than a decade’s worth of proprietary sales and search data, and represent every era of the last century of baseball—from Babe Ruth to Pete Rose, and beyond.
