I can't help but smile at the thought of the Dodgers destroying the Phillies. It just warms my heart. Per Paul Casella at MLB,com:
“I drank two Red Bulls and took a lot of Advil," said Bellinger, who went 4-for-6 with two RBIs and four runs. "So I was feeling all right."So, that's his secret.

- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1936 the game between the Dodgers and Reds in Cincinnati is postponed due to a heat wave that crippled much of the Midwest. The extreme weather, exacerbated by the Dust Bowl, results in over 5,000 deaths in the United States. In 1948 Brooklyn agrees to a deal with the Giants that releases their manager, Leo Durocher, so that he may become the skipper for the Giants. Burt Shotten would take over the managerial position for the Dodgers. BTW, Phillies manager Ben Chapman, infamous for his racist tirade against Jackie Robinson, is fired by Philadelphia on this same day. In 2000 Dodgers skipper Davey Johnson is hospitalized after experiencing dizziness caused by an irregular heartbeat. Per a CBS story:
"He's very unhappy about being in the hospital," Dr. Mellman said. "And he's not very happy with me, because I told him to go to the hospital instead of coming to the game tonight. That's Davey Johnson."
- Happy Birthday, Don Ross, Tommy Tatum, Norm Sherry, John Purdin & Eric Surkamp!
- I can get behind this. Via William Douglas at NHL.com -- "U.S. senators make case for (Willie) O'Ree to receive Congressional Gold Medal: Bill introduced would honor NHL's first black player, diversity ambassador." O'Ree played for the LA Blades and the San Diego Gulls in the 60's and 70's.
- Congrats to Max Muncy. Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider -- "Max Muncy wins Dodgers’ 2019 Heart and Hustle Award."
The Heart and Hustle Award, the only award in Major League Baseball voted on by former players, is decided by Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association committees based on the player’s passion, desire and work ethic on and off the field.“Max approaches each pitch and play as if it’s his last,” Dodger manager Dave Roberts said in a statement. “His grit and toughness epitomizes our entire organization.”
- Panini America shares a bunch of preview pics of their upcoming 2019 Donruss Optic brand -- including the Bellinger and Seager cards below. Go here to check out more. This set will hit stores on Wednesday.
- ICYMI: Dodger hurler Casey Sadler made his Dodger debut yesterday -- after having been called up earlier that day. Left-handed pitcher Zac Rosscup was designated for assignment.
- Here's another promotion. Per Ron Cervenka at Think Blue LA -- "Feduccia Promoted to Rancho Cucamonga Quakes."
(Hunter) Feduccia returned to Great Lakes to begin the 2019 season and continued to tear up Midwest League pitching, slashing .288 / .399 / .457 / .856 with four home runs, 17 doubles and one triple, while driving in 31 runs. He also posted a .989 FPCT in his 45 games behind the plate (he served as the Loons DH twice); all of which led to his much-anticipated (and expected) promotion to Rancho Cucamonga on Monday.
- Video: Watch Jimmy Fallon asks MLB All-Star players (including Clayton Kershaw) to casually drop weird phrases into their interviews, like "Don't ask the milkman for steak" and "I recently watched the movie Fever Pitch. It still holds up."
