2019 National Sports Collectors Convention Promos & Redemptions - The Dodger Cards

Now that the National Sports Collectors Convention (NSCC) has concluded I figured it would be a good time to share pics of the handful of Dodgers' promo and redemption cards made available to collectors.

As you know, all the manufacturers provide 'wrapper redemption' packs to collectors who buy their products at the show. Unfortunately, only two of them issued cards that include a Dodger player -- Topps and Panini America. Below is a look at most of those cards -- not including any of the autographs (none of which have turn up yet). Furthermore, Panini America has not provided a complete checklist of both their silver and gold packs, so there may be other cards available that I am not aware of. Should anything new pop up I will be sure to update this post. In the meantime, check out the known cards below.

BTW, no Dodger players were given out as part of the NSCC VIP program. Attendees had an option of joining a VIP club that entitled members to exclusive VIP promotional cards and free autographs at the convention. Since the show was in Chicago a majority of these VIP promos were of Chicago-based athletes.

This next product isn't exactly a NSCC product, but it is my understanding that it was unveiled at the show. Featured below is a Topps set created by Gary Vee -- a supreme hypebeast marketer -- that includes several Dodger players. It is called 2019 Topps Gary Vee Direct360. Go here for a complete checklist.

Of note, the set includes Dodger prospect Luke Heyer -- who is not often spoken about by those that follow Dodger prospects. He's a 22-year old infielder who was drafted out of the University of Kentucky in the 8th round of the 2018 Draft. Currently, Heyer is playing for the Single-A Great Lakes Loons and is slashing a paltry .217/.313/.427/.740 in 307 plate appearances. He appears to have some power, though. Luke has 13 home runs and 46 RBI.

Now we look at the Panini America's 'wrapper redemption' cards. Go here for a complete checklist.

As far as I can tell Panini has not provided a complete checklist (those that exist have been compiled by hand), so I may update this as time goes on. For now, I am only aware of one Dodger being available. It is of Cody Bellinger, and he can be found in both the silver and gold packs.

BTW, the gold packs were an exclusive to Panini VIP party attendees -- a special evening event that featured only high-dollar spending collectors and select athletes/stars who hobnobbed with the attendees. These guest included Patrick Renna, who played Ham in the baseball movie classic The Sandlot, Basketball Hall of Famer Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, Spud Webb, Mike Ditka, Randall Cunningham, Trevor Hoffman, Rafael Palmeiro, Chipper Jones and wrestler Ric Flair.
