Let's hear it for the old guys! Per Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider:
“What he’s done for our entire group, namely the young catchers, just the entire group of ball players, his insight, his experience — and now you talk about when he does get an opportunity to play, just his toughness, his compete and obviously the at-bat quality…he’s got some big hits for us this year, none bigger than the one tonight,” Roberts said.Old guy Russell Martin was a major catalyst for the Dodgers last night. After trailing for most of the night, he came up with two-on and doubled to give the Dodgers a lead that they would not relinquish. His hit started a rally that would score seven runs in the sixth inning, and would provide starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu with his third career playoff win.

- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1936 the Dodgers fire their manager, Casey Stengel. He had a 208-251 record as Brooklyn's skipper over three season. In 1977, in Game 3 of the NLCS, the Dodgers score three runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 6-5 lead over the Phillies. The Dodgers eventually win the series the next day to advance to the World Series. In 1978, in Game 4 of the NLCS, the Dodgers defeated the Phillies on a tenth-inning run scoring single by Bill Russell to win the NL pennant and earn the a right to face the Yankees in the World Series (boxscore).

"Just couldn't seem to get that third out there," said Corbin, who gave way to Suero after throwing 35 pitches and ended up taking the loss in a 10-4 defeat that puts Washington in a 2-1 deficit in the best-of-five series. "Just stinks. Coming in, we're up by one there, just trying to get through a clean inning there. Just left a couple sliders there, kind of spun out. Didn't have the usual break that I've had on them. It just stinks. I feel like I let these guys down. They did a great job scoring, getting the lead early, and Sanchez pitched a heck of a game. So it's tough.""We were doing our job," added catcher Yan Gomes, "doing a great job of getting ahead and doing what we needed to do, and it's one of those things, man. They locked it in -- we tried to waste a couple pitches; they would either foul it off or not bite at all. They did a good job. Tip your cap to them. They had a great approach against Pat. We just weren't able to put them away."
- Per Ron Cervenka at Think Blue LA -- "Adam Kolarek is Living His Childhood Dream."
“I think [Thursday] especially, the build-up and everything. It’s what you see as a kid all the time,” Kolarek said. “It’s the lining up on the line, the introductions, the Anthem, the huge flag in center field, it’s all the little stuff that adds to the spectacle of playoff baseball. So I think that was what I was most looking forward to as far as stull that’s outside the game and getting to experience that for the first time. It was a gorgeous night, the fireworks shooting off. All that stuff is really special even for a player.”
- Per Brian Crawford at Baseball Essential -- "Dodgers Draftee Michael Busch is Working Hard in Pro Ball."
“My defense is good,” said Busch. “I’m always working on that with the coaches.”And working with his professional coaches will be a big part of his offseason.
“I just want to get better this offseason,” explained Busch. “I’m looking forward to working hard, getting better, and working with great coaches.”
