Holy Moly!
I had suspected, with the MLB All-Star Game scheduled for Dodger Stadium next season, that Hunt Auctions would have something special for collectors to chase. As you may know, Hunt has had an annual MLB All-Star Week auction and it usually includes some historically important memorabilia. For 2020, though they have truly gone above and beyond. According to an announcement this morning, they have secured select items from the personal collection of Dodger Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully -- easily the most iconic Dodger personality in its history.
There's no word yet on how many items will be available, but based on the pic in their email it appears he'll be parting with some items from a Dodgers Tour of Japan, his 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers World Series ring, the 1981 World Series trophy and some personal photographs.
Stay tuned I'll be sure to highlight everything once more information is available. Below are more links to check out:
- This Day in Dodgers History: In 1972 Dodger first baseman Wes Parker won his sixth consecutive Gold Glove award. He would soon retire from the game, shortly after his 33rd birthday, and become a broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds in 1973.
- Happy Birthday, Bert Cunningham, Gene Bailey, John Wells, Ben Wade, Tony Brewer, Octavio Dotel & Grant Dayton!
- The Bobblehead Museum currently has a Cody Bellinger and Clayton Kershaw MLB Players Weekend Nickname bobbles for sale. Go here to check them out.

- To the surprise of no one, the Dodgers have extended Andrew Fridman, via a tweet by Jon Heyman.
- Via Rowan Kavner at Dodger Insider -- "Dodgers add Peters, McKinstry, White to 40-man roster." I suspect the Dodgers hope that they'll make an impact in Los Angeles next season.

“Not really [any regrets],” he said. “I ask myself if it was a good thing for me, because it made me grow up. Maybe a lot of people they didn’t get caught, and they doing maybe so many crazy stuff but they’re not learning from it. So I think everything happens for a reason and everything is working for the good. I’m in a better place than I ever been even when I was playing, so I don’t regret it because it made me grow up.”
- You gotta make this right, Dodgers. I don't want Maeda to leave. Via Dylan A. Chase at MLB Trade Rumors -- "Latest On Kenta Maeda’s Status With Dodgers."
“He cares more about the role than the contract,” Wolfe said. “But the contract acts somewhat as a limitation because there’s a lot of upside for the Dodgers in limiting his starts.” The contract Wolfe refers to is the one Maeda signed with Los Angeles in advance of the 2016 season, when the right-hander secured an eight-year, $28MM on the strength of a sterling NPB track record.
- This weeks Topps Throwback Thursday set features features the 1961 Topps Baseball MVP design and includes recent MVP winner Cody Bellinger. Go here to check it out and order. Check out the Bellinger cad on the right.
- Per Anthony Castrovince at MLB.com -- "Former Dodgers prospect now a supermodel." You heard that right!
Signed by IMG, (James) Carter was recently described by fashion publication W Magazine as “the hottest male model at New York Fashion Week.” He went from trying to be the next Verlander to trying to be the next Zoolander.“It’s a little hard to keep up with sometimes,” he says of his new life as a model citizen. “It’s been pretty overwhelming.”
- Here's a rumor from Jon Heyman on twitter regarding some free agents. You should take anything you hear with a grain of salt.
Dodgers are looking at Gerrit Cole, Stephen Strasburg and Anthony Rendon. But while they can afford to go big, word is they have set valuations for each star and intend to remain disciplined.— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) November 25, 2019
